The XLS is a great driver, but so was the XL. To many, a noticable improvement over the XL, but the improvement the XL made over the original HiBore was a major leap in my opinion. I was looking forward to the XLS, but this time around the SUMO squared shined its light on me. There are so many good options that nowadays it comes down to personal preference. I could reshaft my XL ( V2 67g) with a VS Proto and be very happy. Too me, the XLS didn't really justify an upgrade. I have friends who swear by the L4V, however, I just don't see it. They feel about the SUMO 5900 as I feel about the L4V. Enjoy your XLS!

I think the XLS is awesome. Long and forgiving and nice feel, but a tad too loud. Great club.

Ditto. The XLS sound now matches the Cobras for loudness but the driver is great.

The XLS is probably the most accurate driver I've ever hit. This thing just goes straight all day. I have an XLS Tour 8.5º with a Pershing 65X that I've now put up against my L4VX twice. Results were the same both times. The XLS Tour was straighter (slightly), but about 10 yards shorter on average. The XLS Tour spun less than the L4VX and hit the ball lower. The XLS Tour will be in the BST soon.

I hit the XL Tour quite a bit last season as well and I have to say that the XLS Tour is not really a great improvement over the XL Tour. Now don't get me wrong, it's a great driver, but so is the XL and that can be had at a GREAT price right now. I really don't think the XLS offers that much more over last years XL.

If I wasn't playing the L4VX, I would bag an XL or XLS in a second. It's just that the L4V has performed better for me.

I have about 4 rounds logged with my XLS tour with stock shaft. I love this driver. It is Long, forgiving and accurate. I have not seen many post praising the performance of this driver but I have read a ton of post with people raving over the L4v. Is it just me or am I missing out on something big with the L4V.

Was the 2 degree open face a problem, is a draw still possible with the tour model? I have heard awesome things about this club, for someone who hits it straight to a slight push do well with the Tour model?

Checked one out the other day at a local golf shop, I really like the looks of the XLS (normal version), though I have no need to replace my driver anytime soon. Felt and sounded good, albeit loud. Sadly this was an indoor cage so I had no idea about true ball flight or distance. Were I in the market it would be on my list of potential drivers.

The slightly open face has not been a problem for me. I play a pretty decent draw and very rarely hit a fade. With the Xls tour I am hitting it straight or with just a slight draw. I would take it out on the range and give it a try before purchasing it if I was a fader. The 2 degree open face could intensify your fade.

  • 2 weeks later...

i swung one down at golf galaxy last weekend and i was spinning it through the roof, i had never spun any driver like that, it was the Hibore XLS 9.5 (non tour) with a stiff shaft (the stock red one) and my spin numbers were upwards of 6000-7000rpm. i was really excited to hit this because i had pretty good experiences with both the previous hibores and particularly last years tour 9.5 with stiff red. i dont know what it was, all other drivers i hit were in the 2-3k rpm range so it was just weird to see. oh well, anyone else have this experience?

Just a heads' up to anybody looking at the XLS Tour it is open and also has a fade bias. The quote below I took from TGW.com form their 'product details' page:

"Toe biased weighting for fade biased workability"

If anyone fights a fade/slice it might be better to try the regular XLS

TM Qi10 LS 8.25°, Ventus Black 6X, tipped 1”, 44.75”

TM BRNR Mini Driver at 12° (HWF), HZRDUS Black RDX 70 TX, tipped 1", 43.75"

TM Stealth+ 5w at 18.25°, HZRDUS Black RDX 80 6.5, tipped 1”, 42.5”

2023 Titleist T100 (4-GW), PX 6.0, +1/4”

Vokey SM10 54.12(D), 60.08(M), PX 6.0, +1/4"
