Mizuno actually already makes balls, they're only in Japan though, you can get them through www.tourspecgolf.com

Ping on the other hand, probably not, it's not worth it for them because of the ultra competitive ball market, plus the thin margins.

Ping used to make golf balls, and Mizuno has a line in Japan. The Pings were a short-lived novelty and now are considered lower end collectibles (my advanced apologies to any collectors :)), and I think the Mizzy ball is mostly gimmick (cross-8 or something, basically an odd sphere core with big ridges that help center the core--though it has to change flight characteristics when struck in a "thin/ridge" spot versus a non-ridged part of the mantle/cover), though I can't comment on how popular it is.

Ping did make golf balls at one time...

Now that i think about it i have seen one of those PINGS b4 and i just laughed at it. But i really cant see PING ever making a higher end golf ball.

I have several of those ping balls. They are great for a putting trainer. You line it up and hit the putt and if that thing is turning in a dead straight line, you hit it perfect. If it squiggles one way, you know if you cut it, the other way and you pushed across it.

Actually, blame the guy with the photos for picking those fugly coloured balls...lol. They had some pretty cool colors there once - blue with white and red with white. They even had a Christmas ball with Christmas tree, red and white. I got one for the collection. It was a novelty but in real play, these balls were hard to find in the grass...they did not stand out like the white balls.

you can still get those balls off ebay. I saw something the other day....at least not many will mistake their ball for yours. It was an early promo before "How do you mark your Titliest?" came along.Ping's promo, "Whats your color?" haha...

me too!....couldn't have been happier a s a kid to raid the ball bins or find either the old Ping ball or a Robinhood.....used to trade multiple balls to old men that had those Pings...they were like gold to me...

Those balls are awesome, bring em back! I have a yellow/orange one up in my wall collection, greatness.

I had some of the Ping balls, actually I remember buying a couple boxes of the red/white ones. I think they were wound balls, felt like a marshmallow. Were the best putting balls I ever used, because of the built-in alignment aid and because they were so soft. I believe they were made in the mid to late 80's, at the same time the Eye2's were hot (hence the "eye" design on the side).

Yeah, late 1980's, and I beleive they were a surlyn covered wound ball much like the old Titleist DT.

The majority of Ping's ball production was a legal common white ball with black Ping lettering.

Ping made the illegal two tone ball as a novelty for eyeball candy and marketing at pro shops.

Leave it to Ping to put out something that ugly.

They remind me of the striped balls you can play on the Tiger Woods video games

What makes you think the PING two tone balls were illegal (or non-conforming)?

I remember thinking these were putt putt balls and hitting them into a lake for practice.

Now that my eyesight is getting worse I wish ping still made em.

Used to love playing those, you could see the ball spin. And putting feedback was awesome.

Those were great balls in those days. I only wished I kept them, I had them in all sorts of colours....oh wait...I still have a red/white Christmas tree with "Merry Christmas" on it ball. Fond memories of my younger days in golf.

I haven't posted to this thread in 14 months, but I wanted to mention that there is an auction on eBay I thought that you all might enjoy watching. Within an hour, the ball got its $350 starting bid. I have no idea where this one will end - pricewise. The seller is from Ohio, as am I, but I do not know him/her, so please don't think I'm spamming this board for him/her. I'm posting this, mainly, because I think we will all be amazed at the ending price for one golf ball.

i have a white ping ball and not sure whats its worth. and not sure where i got it from lol. sits on my computer desk. it just says........ping 1 karsten. maybe ill put it in a golf ball displayer or something
