Anyone else besides Si Woo Kim still gaming an Odyssey RSX 001?

I've got an opportunity to buy an RSX 001 and I'm curious to hear about thoughts on these putters - how they compare to Toulon and Scotty Cameron putters. Heard rave reviews early on - but if they were so great, why haven't they stood the test of time? Any help is appreciated!

It's a good looking putter. I didn't understand the tech story behind it.

I used one (technically it was an RSX #2) for a few rounds. Looked amazing and felt great off the dead middle, but the sound/feel was wonky on even the slightest of mishits. Center hits felt better to me than the newish insert Cameron models, and mishits probably about the same. Looked just as nice or better with the black finish as well, but probably doesn't hold a candle to older model one piece Camerons. Don't have experience with Toulons so I can speak to that comparison.

In the end sold it on here because I would've needed to get an extension in it if I was going to use it long term, and I didn't love it enough to make the effort. It does seem fairly typical of Odyssey to have a solid putter model line that no one uses a couple years later because of the latest and greatest.

@md_mueller Ive had a chance to hit it as well recently. The sound takes some getting used to - honestly thought there was something wrong with it. Also feels like you need to hit it a bit harder (currently use a SC Newport deep milled) to get it to the hole. Looks great, feels decent (at times) but honestly don't feel as though it was worth the $379.00 price tag and definitely not as good a putter as some of the old - and even the new 2018 line IMO. Just curious as to everyone's thoughts - maybe someone picked up on something that I didn't?

@collindm1 do you still have the putter? Ive come across an opportunity to buy one from a friend and was wondering if it was worth it at all...

how is the feel? And is it forgiving at all?

I've tried the retail rsx 001 (only inside on putting green) and it felt pretty good. I wasn't able to game it outside, which is the true sound and feel test.

I also had the chance to try one issued to a guy that used to play on the web.com and it has a stability shaft and that really messed with the acoustics IMO - very clicky w a stability shaft - he also had tungsten in the heels - could have affected sound. 

IMO i liked the retail version - also loved the top line on it. Here's the deal, no pros game it, it wasn't a highly successful model and the feel was decent but not the greatest. If you're looking for a more solid putter but still soft - I think the scotty cameron 2018 insert line nailed it with the sound and feel. Depending on how much you can buy it for - I wouldn't pay more than $75-$100 depending on condition of putter. Golf galaxy had it for sale on used rack for 100 and it was in really good condition. Check out the scotty before you buy this one, i think you'll find it to be a better feeling putter..it was so good i went out and bought one. 

I have the RSX 001 and it's a beautiful putter. All black (murdered out) with a topline 🤩. I'm not a big fan of the leather grip but it feels nice. If I don't sell it I'll probably throw a pistolero on it. It rolls just as well as my Newport.
