Tips for Streamsong

Going to Streamsong in 2 weeks. Any tips or caddy suggestions?

Are we able to bring outside food and booze to keep in the room for pre-dinner festivities or do they ban this?

Any other suggestions or advice would be very helpful!

it's a hotel ... you can bring in anything you want for your room ... it's in the middle of nowhere, so stop before then ... it's an hour to the nearest town with a dollar store ... water/gatorade/snacks/beer/liquor/mixers/etc ... rooms are fabulous ... highly recommend a soak in their spa if it's open to your package deal ... food at the clubhouses is very good, and food at the pricey restaurants is decent but over-priced ... if you're riding, you must have a forecaddie ... not so if you're walking ... up to you ... great courses and great resort ... enjoy ...

It's an incredible resort... in the middle of nowhere FL. As mentioned, stop at a store on the drive in and stock up on your own supplies for the entire stay. Hopefully, you're playing all three courses... as they are great and unique in their own way.

Get to the clubhouse early, if you want to do a little shopping (Seamus headcover anyone?) and also warm-up on the range. As the weather gets hotter in the FL, a cart and a forecaddie will be a great experience. If you get out early enough and can walk, pay a little extra for a caddie to carry your bag... that's an even better experience. Either way, caddies are cash only, so be sure to hit the ATM before traveling or in the clubhouse (with standard out-of-network fees).

Plenty of free bottled water to drink on the course (a must in the FL heat). A drink cart is available. And I recommend trying the signature food items at the turn of each course (BBQ pork)... and don't forget to offer to buy something for your caddie. All purchases easily charged to the room... so you can worry about the total damage later!

Breakfast is simple and easy enough in the hotel lobby. It's worth enjoying at least one dinner at the clubhouse (I went to the Blue/Red clubhouse... can't remember what's offered at Black). The rooftop bar at the hotel is also a good after-dinner spot. Enjoy!

yeah, forgot to mention but hugely important ... they have unlimited 6 oz bottles of water on the course ... won't be that hot in 2 weeks, but it helps ...

I'd recommend eating at both of the clubhouses. Definitely stop by the rooftop bar above the hotel.

Streamsong is awesome, can't say enough good things about it. As noted above, the rooms are really nice. The patio area outside the Black course is nice and the rooftop in the main hotel complex is great. I can imagine the spa being great and the pool looked nice when I was there, but it was too cold. Might be enjoyable to take a dip in the evening.

Streamsong has been on my list for so long, place looks amazing and I love that it's out in the middle of nowhere.

Question for those that have been. How busy is the course when you've been? I've recently had the been able to play Pinehurst #2, Cascata, and Doral just me and a caddy and enjoyed the hell out it. Would love to come play Streamsong for a couple days but wondering the likelihood of getting out alone.

I suspect in peak season your odds of going out alone are not great. I’ve been twice. Most recently was a trip with a couple friends in mid September and we played as a threesome everyday. Generally not too crowded as it was still quite hot. A year earlier I went for one day in early sept while in Tampa for work. Got paired up with folks on the red on the morning, but played an afternoon 18 on blue by myself and didn’t see another human being until the 17th hole when I caught a group.

Sept is when we went and it was not as busy as I expected... we actually saw more people for conventions at dinner than anywhere else. We had 8 people, but basically never ran into another group hardly ever. the caddies did a good job of keeping people in front of us moving

Just going to echo what others said about stopping on the way to get anything you need. This includes, but is not limited to, sunblock, snacks, and alcohol/drinks. A group of 12 of us ran up an $850 tab of transfusions one afternoon. A couple [more] bottles of vodka would have saved us a great deal. Which is to say, pick up more than you think you'll need or want.

I'd recommend Dell or Tricky Nick for a caddie. By the second round Dell knew my distances and how I hit all my clubs. On day 2, he was able to quickly account for my hangover. They have a great caddie program in general though, so it is unlikely you will be disappointed with whoever they stick on your bag.

Have fun! I've been down there twice (including for my bachelor party), and both trips are some of the most fun I've ever had golfing.

i had a caddie named Goose when i went 2 years ago ... chill guy with a great attitude ... got no idea if he's still there, but he fit nicely with my twosome ...

yeah i definitely recommend the cart. it gets hot out here real quick and you don't want to be walking if you could avoid it

Ask for AJ for your caddy. I have his number, so PM me if youd like it. He was excellent and really helped me play my best. This is coming from a guy who typically is indifferent to disappointed in most caddies.

The hotel is weird looking. You'll think it's a pharmaceutical company's corporate headquarters. Rooms are nice though, and the restaurants are excellent.

I think its likely to still be really hot. I recommend you invest in an Aussie Chiller hat, and wet it down with ice water every two or three holes. I slide ice chips under the inner band...works great!
