Spider Mini vs Spider X

Not sure if this has been covered before but is there much of a difference between the 2 besides the removable weights in the X ?

Rockbottomgolf has the mini for $129 right now vs the $349 for the spider x

So my real question is, is there more to gain from the X than the mini ?

I prefer mini because of the t alignment

I love my Spider Mini. And the bottom weight is removable and can be made heavier, etc.

I moved form the mini to the X. Advantages...

Beware the $129 Spider Mini.

It is the previous version with a metallic face. It does NOT have the current white-ish Surlyn(?) face of the current Spider-X.

So that insert you would say is closer to a steel non insert face? I’ve never used an insert in a putter. The past few years I’ve been using a circa 62 and an old mag bronze my day. So if feel / sound is more in line with those that might not be a terrible thing that’s carbon steel and mag bronze so we’re still not talking the same soft feel though most likely

The (older) insert is aluminum.

One can make the argument they prefer the "firmer" feel of the aluminum insert OR they prefer the "softer" feel of the plastic/Surlyn insert.

Mostly a matter of taste I guess.

Since the most recent version was introduced (7 months ago ?) I have only seen ONE (right-handed) Spider with the Surlyn insert in the PGATSS near me. Don't know why.

For the 129 I think it’s worth taking a shot and trying it out. Never used a mallet or an insert so ill go try both in one putter. Might as well try it out now while I have nothing to do at night and roll them across the carpet into the puttout

I just bought the copper spider mini with the slant neck. I prefer this one over the spider x, mainly because of the size. I've used the spider tour in the past and to me, they are just a bit too big (coming from an anser). I think the mini swings and feels a little closer to a blade putter.

i really like this copper spider mini vs the older spider mini.

You get the feel of the newer insert in a smaller body plus the slant neck.

The spider X is awesome, but for whatever reason, I am guessing that it is slightly too big to my eye I do something weird and have distance control issues. But for sure the spider X felt a bit more stable than the spider mini copper.

I just made way more putts with the mini copper when playing on the course vs Spider X

Had a Spider Mini and hated it. Felt too small and didn't feel stable. The Spider X is a huge improvement for me. Feels way more stable for my SBST stroke and I also like the looks 100 times more than the Mini.

The way I understand it from speaking to the guys at the kingdom the spider x basically has all the forgiveness of the spider tour in a smaller cleaner package. The spider mini was originally made for the people who didn’t like the look of the spider tour but it’s slightly less forgiving. So in theory the spider x is more forgiving than the mini but some people prefer the smaller look and don’t mind giving up the forgiveness.
