NEW ADAMS TOUR PROTOTYPE HYBRIDS

Recommended Posts

VERY Clean and Nice-Looking! Adams is ROLLING!
Here are a couple mediocre  photos I took today of the new Adams hybrids.

There was a post earlier this week showing a photo of the sole only, so I figured I would take a pic of the club from the address position for you guys.

The pics are mixed up a bit, I also included some photos of the new Peanut hybrid next to one of my Idea Pro hybrids for comparison.

These new hybrids are VERY clean and nice-looking. Noticeably smaller than the Idea Pro (which are just a bit smaller than the new Peanut).

The good news is that these WILL be coming to retail this summer. They are going to be released to match up with the new Adams MB Blades. No idea what shaft will be in them for the retail release. You can see from the photo that they have several shafts in these for the tour.

Visited the the Adams tour van at the Shell Houston Open today, and Dave "Sticky" Williams and Randy Shade helped me TREMENDOUSLY by adjusting the lie angles a few degrees upright on my black a4 Tours. I was nervous letting anyone other than the real experts bend these, and these guys were SUPER nice and helped me a great deal by adjusting not only my irons but also my new Peanut hybrids. I was amazed at how nice they were to this NON-tour player, and really appreciate their help.

How nice it was to be able to pick the brains of these very knowledgeable guys!

Thanks to their input, I am going with the DGSL X100s in my a4 Tours. I had been unsure about what shafts to put in these heads because I heard that the DGSL was a very "harsh" shaft. But they assured me that these are exactly what I need and that a BUNCH of guys on the tour are using these lightweight shafts (with sensicore).

These new hybrids look and feel great. They will be highly workable and match up nicely with the MBs, but for my game  the more-forgiving Peanuts are a no-brainer.

I REALLY liked the looks of the new Speedline FW/Hybrids also.

Adams has a BUNCH of EXCELLENT product out right now.

They started with the best hybrids and now are on a SERIOUS roll! :good:

SO are you saying the new peanuts are going retail this summer?

No, the Peanut 2 is tour only. The new smaller hybrid will be released for retail this summer (June-July).

I have attached the photo that Mesmorize took of the sole (MUCH better photo than mine, I'm obviously NOT a photographer! ).

Not sure what the retail name for this will be. The tour prototype is called 90....something.

The Peanut 2 has NOT been "killed" by any means. There were plenty of them at the tour van today and plenty being played.

This is what a hybrid should look like

Agreed!

I really like the clean look of these new Peanuts.

I am told that these will be slightly lower spin and slightly more forgiving than the outstanding Idea Pros I'm gaming now.

Waiting on the Fuji FTB-90s to arrive so that I can get these shafted up.

I will post a review (that I already know will be good :man_in_love: ) asap.

Do you all think the speed line fairway hybrid round like those will be available to retail. I've got the retail version but I want to try one of those. And yes the hybrid is awesome looking.

Sorry, I did not ask about the Speedline stuff.

I've never even seen the retail stuff in a golf shop, so I have no idea what differences (if any) there might be. I would guess that the new GolfWRX Sponsor "Mesmorize" might know what will be coming to retail and what, if any, differences there will be between the tour and retail versions.

I DO know that the Speedline FW/Hybrids I saw today (I think one or two are in the lousy photos I took) at the tour van were VERY good-looking and unlike (IMO) the older BTY fairway woods, these Speedline models are confidence-inspiring to look down at, if you know what I mean.

I hope that this comes to retail. I am still using the A2P hybrid from a couple of years ago. Super easy to hit and with the Rombax shaft it is totally anti-left. All the hybrids from Adams since then have not impressed me, including the original Peanut. Maybe they will have them at our demo day next month...

Old stuff:
1962 Tommy Armour AT2W Driver   1953 Macgregor M65W EOM 3 wood   1978 H&B PowerBilt Citation 4 wood
1984 Ben Hogan Apex PC 2-E   1968 Wilson Dual Wedge
1964 Acushnet O-SET M6S Bullseye Putter

New stuff
Cobra ZL 10.5 driver (Matrix HD6 s-flex)  Titleist TSR2 18* fairway wood (Matrix Code-8 s-flex)   Adams A2P 20* hybrid (Rombax 8D07HB s-flex)
Titleist 716 MB irons 4-PW (Apex 4 soft-stepped)    Callaway Mack Daddy wedges 52, 56, 60 (DG S200)

While I felt it was STILL better than almost all other company's retail OR tour hybrid offerings, I also was not crazy about the original Peanut. For me it was TOO round and the grey finish looked a bit unfinished and did not appeal to my eye. I have heard from several people that it performs wonderfully though.

Below are five photos that really illustrate why I love the new Peanut. I was, and still am a big fan of the Idea Pro hybrid. In my mind it was EASILY the best hybrid available for a LONG time. Never quite liked the looks of the boxer and the few variations along the way, but this new Peanut has many of the design features that I liked in the Pro, is easier to hit and performs even better.

You can see in the photos below just how similar the shape is. The new Peanut is just a bit bigger and deeper-faced, but it is also quite close to the Pro in many ways IMO.

I have hit the new Peanut already, but not in my length, lie and preferred shaft combo. Even with the different length, lie and shaft combo, this new Peanut was SO easy to hit. Just felt like I could do whatever I wanted with it. Can't wait to get mine shafted up.

I will report on these after some course time, but I can safely say that I HIGHLY recommend grabbing these if you can.

there's a spot in my bag between the 7 wood and six iron waiting to be filled. When these come out I will, once again, try a hybrid.

Btw, those Speedlines pictured are what should have come to retail.

So the new peanut pictured above is not coming to retail? But the new smaller squared version is?

Correct.

Maybe Tim also heard this. I believe the new hybrid will be available in 2 degree increments from 14 to 26 and then a 30 degree as well. Is this true?

If true it's good news for me and Dana Quigley. We can now get our 7 hybrid!!!!!!!!!!. I can get a 30 bend it to 33 or 34 and add a 7 hybrid to my 3,4,5 and 6 tour issue Idea pro hybrids that I currently use.

I've been playiing the PNT 2 version for several rounds now, and am really impressed with their overal playability. They are slightly easier to hit than the original Idea Pro, easier to elevate for the vertically challenged, and are strong out of the rough. Sole has a little rocker to it, but not such that it makes the club difficult to square at address. Personally, I'm getting long iron replacement distances, and not much more. I can appreciate not having gaps in my 185-200 yd carry distances.

The new models are intriguing, but it would appear for the better player needing a true long iron replacement and long iron versatility. Doesn't mean I won't try one though.
