Pro V1 vs Pro V1X

Recommended Posts

Hi,

After using Bridgestone, Nike and Srixon in recent years I returned to ProV1X in 2009 and have been using them ever since.

Anyway, played over the weekend with a regular ProV1 and really liked the way this ball responded with iron shots, and it felt OK from the tee too.

I know some of you will have conducted extensive field tests between the 2 and I'm particularly interested in the distance and trajectory differences and what choice you made and why.

You dont want to know the results of my 2 month extensive testing. bc it doesnt even have Titleist in the top 2. If you do let me know and I will post, I just didnt want to upset the Titleist purists in this thread with an opinion that wasnt PRO prov1 or prov1x:russian_roulette:

I'd be interested in your results.

I am also interested in the results Orlando experienced.

I play the ProV1x in the summer and a softer ball in the winter months. The X is about 10 yards longer off the tee and straighter as well. It spins less on iron approaches but around the greens it grabs like glue.

I tend to over spin the ProV1, so the X is a nice balance.

I'm not sure what your results show, but as a long time user of the ProV1 and (mostly) ProV1X, I recently switched. I was always happy with the ProV1X but did a lot of experimenting this spring (Talylor Made Red/Black/Penta, Bridgestone B330S. I'm now using the Nike Tour One D ball. It gives me just as much spin into greens on both long and short shots, but clearly has more distance. The ball has a stronger looking trajectory, while the Titleists were "loopy" in that they didn't seem to roll out on the downward flight. Just sort of dropped out of the sky. I haven't played the Nikes in really windy conditions yet (just some mild breezes). They aren't affected by the wind I've played in so far. The feel is basically like the ProV1X. I've never really been a fan of Nike products but these will be in my bag for a while. I stocked up when GPP had them on sale for $19.99 a dozen, and when that deal went away I loaded up on more from Costco at the same price. They are very durable also.
