Best low cost TP Black alternative?

The TP Black are still available in some stores. They are now priced at $30 per dozen. The TP Red is hard to find nowadays.

Callaway Tour i/iX are now $30, maybe it's a good alternative. How about trying the Bridgestone E series? Or the Topflight Gamer V2?

That said, was not aware of TP Blacks going anywhere. Thought
the Penta was to replace only the TP Reds. But I could be mistaken.

Many retailers (including Walmart) have still have plenty of blacks for sale, although it's looking like they will be replaced or discontinued come next year.

I've checked all the local golf specialty stores and nobody has them. Don't see them online either. Guess WallyWorld is my last source. My local Targets don't have them either.

My local GG has TP Reds and TP Blacks for $29.99. They were down to 4 boxes of Reds after I got one.

My local target had them today for $39 per dozen. Not really discounted but had to pick up a dozen. Great ball!

I've played the Black (not extensively), but the ball it reminded me of was the Z-Star X. Not sure if that's a great savings for you, but cheaper than ProVs.

Only real difference to me was that the Z-Star X ad more bite around the green than the Black. Trajectory and feel were so similar, I likely couldn't have told them apart if you covered the logos.

I'm not sure, but I even think the Burner TP (really the old Maxfli Tour Fire but with LDP) is going to be discontinued for the Burner Plus. I've gamed these a bit and they're a nice all-around ball like the Nike Vapor and the TF Gamer. However, those ionomer covers simply don't spin like Urethane.

I didn't think the Blacks had been discontinued, only the Reds. Golfsmith and Golf Galaxy still are selling them on their websites. The last time I was at Walmart, they had plenty of Blacks and the last time I was at PGA Tour Superstore they had plenty of the Blacks AND the Reds! All are priced the same, $29.95 USD.

The Nike One Tour-D reminds me of the TP Black. I just happen to have a few of each in my bag.

My target has tons of blacks - no reds.

And right now, you can get the Tour D for under $20 a dozen at Rockbottom - that's a SUPER deal.

Are you talking the 2006 TP Black or the 2008 TP Black LDP? The 2006 TP Black was the longest ball I've ever played.

The 2 that I've been using since exhausting my TP Black stock are the W/S FG Tour and Nike Tour One. I'd probably play the W/S more often, but since you can't get them in retail stores I think the One is my new ball. It flies a bit higher than the Black and is a bit softer around the greens.

I think you mean 1 dozen for $30. That's what they are at the Golf Galaxy in my area.
