I cant wait to give these a try. They look like the idea pros but more stealthy.

I was surprised how UNforgiving and harsh off the face these were - no feel. So I thought I was missing it - After my round buddy and I hit it at the range with some impact tape in place - he was interested in getting an a12 too. After 20 minutes of shots he changed his mind. The impact sound was harsh and didn't have a hot feel. A woody sound.. Even center shots felt like a miss.

The Adams Idea Pro Black is far superior (with voodoo)

For the record it was an 18* with the stiff white altus shaft.
I am a 6 cap and he is a 3.

I bought 3 of these 18, 23, 26 with the RIP shaft.

Prior to this I had played the Idea Pro for about 5 years, with NV shafts, 23 and 19 (?)

These are a better club IMO, longer by 5%, and very stable. They feel good at impact, and the ball has the expected trajectory for this type of hybrid.
Adams produces another winner, they certainly are very good at hybrids. And, now some great irons too.

Do you think your findings were result of the shaft?

Just curious because when I demoed one with the white altus I HATED it as well. It felt horrible!

When I had the RIP X-flex it was a completely different club, IMO.

you got no feel because the you had the wrong shaft in there. hit this with the aldila rip'd vs proto 80. that head was born to go with the aldila, trust me sir. the matrix is too heavy, stiff and unforgiving for this head. i cant wait to get the 20*

i never hit the pro black well but i can mash this beauty

Couldn't agree more....tried both the Matrix Altus and the RIP Proto, and the Proto is fantastic with this head. Love my 18* and am looking in to getting another to replace my A7.The cambered sole interacts with the turf much better than even the original Idea Pro.Try it with the RIP shaft, you'll like it. :clapping::clapping:

Regarding me giving it a whirl...I just received my Adams A12 VS Proto RIP in 85-X via UPS. But I may not hit it for a few days because I am recovering from tendonitis from a swimming repetitive stress injury. I've been on Piroxicam anti-inflammatories and therapy.

But I am very excited to give it a test drive.. I will post here for sure.

(I will say that I hate hybrids but the TMAG Rescue 11 has been the best I've ever hit - 18* TP)

I work at Edwin Watts in Tyler, TX and our whole staff just received a free A12 each for ourselves from our Adams rep. Got the 20* with the white Altus shaft in stiff. I really enjoy it. Hit it a littler higher than expected but no distance loss. Still easy to flight lower if needed, but the slightly higher flight helps out when I'm 210 to 220 yards out from the green. The weight isn't a problem, and the shaft feels really smooth. Even though the stock color is red, the white does look pretty cool too. IMO, I hit both shafts and preferred the Altus, the RIP just doesn't feel right to me, a little too boardy. Either way, this hybrid is a WINNER, just make sure you try both shafts so you can find out which one suits you better.

the VS RIP is the lower launching, lower torque one. Ozik Altus is the higher launching one and felt much smoother

I literally GAVE my white a12 Altus shafted hybrid to my buddy and bought the RIP version,. Couldn't stand the feel of the altus. But I'm a guy who thought the VS Proto By You was the best shaft ever created.

I have been trying desperately to get my hands on an Idea Pro Black hybrid for a while now, but these guys look so very similar that I may just spring for one or two of these instead. Thanks for the words on the difference in shafts...I'll definitely go with the RIP VS

I need help.

I've been playing a 22* Adams A3 Idea Tour Prototype with Ozik Altus in it for a years. I love this combo and it is my go to club.

I've been in the market to add a 18-19* hybrid to my bag, and I came across the Idea A12 with Ozik Altus at my local Golf-Galaxy. I immediately picked it up but I haven't even tried it yet... figuring I can always return it if I change my mind.

They said they will not give me any type of players gaurentee for x days to try it out, so if I hit it, it's mine.

After reading this thread I'm worried because people are claiming the Ozik Altus is not a good combo with this head??

What should I do?

I thought the a12 + Altus was good, not great, just good. The shaft isn't tip stiff enough for me, and the head doesn't quite have the feel that I like at impact, but I still think it's a smooth shaft if it fits your swing. Sadly, it doesn't fit mine. The a12 is now for sale and I'm going back to a Pro Black, but this time with a Diamana Thump.

Here was my comparison of the two recently:

See that's odd. I have the Matrix shaft and my SS is around 105-110 with this club and it feels amazing. My only problem is that I seem to pull it left quite a bit, but that's not really a problem.. I just have to address my hybridswith a 1-2* open face to play my straight / baby fade. But when I hit this thing "square" to target line, I pull it left.

It isn't a swing speed issue, more of a loading issue. I've never gotten along with the Altus profile, rather, Matrix's M2 line fit me better - I had an F7M2 in my driver and hM2 in a hybrid and those worked. Like I said, the a12 + Altus isn't bad; I liked it, but for me, it just isn't the best combo out there.

i've had the opportunity to hit pretty much every hybrid on the market in the LM's in my store and although the pro a12 is a little bit tougher to hit when compared to the TM rescue 11 and the ping i15, it was at least 5-10 yards longer at every loft that i compared.
the only hybrid that really compared for distance was the burner 11 but as far as workability goes, the pro a12 was one of the best out there.
i haven't hit the club with the altus in it but with the aldila in it, it was smooth, workable and LONG.
overall a great golf club for a low handicapper. probably not for someone who has trouble with ball striking

SIts neutral or closed to me. Moved to the 910h and stopped hitting it left. The A12 is one of those hybrids that goes VERY left if you don't babysit it. I even bought an A12 X-Flex to get rid of the left to no avail. I was scared whenever I stood over it.

Love the VS Proto RIP shaft tho!!
