Laser Rangefinder Battery Life???

I am looking for a new laser rangefinder. I am interested in the Leupold Gx-3i, Bushnell Pro 1m, and the Bushnell Tour Z6. Does anyone have experience with these who can tell me how many rounds the batteries last in each?

rounds? how about months... an annual change would not be uncommon

I have an old Bushnell with a 9V battery. The battery life is at least a full season.

ive got a 1600, bought an energizer lithium 9v, lasted all of last year and up to mid june before the low battery popped up. mild weather this year, i played into November and started in march. from november to march the battery was removed and stored in its package but i put the same one back in in march and it lasted another 3.5 months give or take

I just got a GX-3i last month, the manual says the battery is good for >4000 Actuations.

In most lasers, they last a long, long time.

In my Medalist, I can continue to use it for at least 4 more rounds once the low battery warnings starts to flash.

I purchased a Bushnell V2 on 6-14-2012 and I had to replace the battery the other day. the battery was new and came with the unit. would say I had 10 rounds of use from it. that seemed awful quick to me. should I be contacting Bushnell ?

Leupold GX-3i user who's played about 8 rounds with it since purchasing on Father's Day and battery still shows full. Full bars!!!

The factory supplied battery on my Leupold GX3 recently ran out. I didn't get the life that others on here talk about. Mine ran from March until about the end of June. I've played a LOT of golf in that time and tend to use "scan" mode alot so I'm not sure if that made a difference.

I play a Leupold GX 3 and I'm so impressed with the battery life. I've had it now about 14/15 months, and have just recently changed the battery for the first time.

usually the batteries that come with electronic items are cheap pieces of crap. im shocked if they last 3 months.

It seems the consensus from the replies you've received, coupled with other threads I've read, would say the battery life for the Leupolds are much better than the Bushnell. Just get what really suits your eye and don't worry about the battery life. When you replace it, you'll likely get a battery much better than the factory one anyway.

just to add my recent experience. the low battery life I had in my Bushnell was with an energizer battery. battery two batteries came with the unit and both were sealed in the original packaging. maybe the batteries were a couple of years old ? took the second one out of my unit and storing it in the case when I do not use it to see if that extends the life. have not seen anybody mention rechargable C2 batteries, are they not suggested for the rangefinders ? sorry to hijack the op here.

Mine is a Callaway Nikon, but I play several times each week and it lasts about a year or so.

My GX-1 lasted about 14 months. I think I could have gotten more, had I not kept in my hot car so much this summer.

My Nikon/Callaway unit is on it's second season with the same battery.
With season being defined as March through October. Playing on average twice a week.

I have the V2, and I've found that I can easily (accidentally) have the button the laser depressed when I put my bag in the car, and something presses against it and the next time I go to use it the battery is dead.

What I did was by a "skin", which is essentially a rubber protective cover which recesses the button a bit. Hasn't happened since I bought one of these.

I have a leupold GX-3 and just changed the battery for the first time last week. I bought my laser last year before the season started. I got a a season and a half out of the first battery. Pretty good

Have had a Nikon for 7 years, i'm on only my 3rd battery.. £9 a go.

I actually was in a rush and on a budget at the time. I went and bought the cheap Maxfli branded laser from dicks. Everyone says they are junk ( mostly I think because people are stuk on name brands). However in my experience it's been great. My buddy has a bushnell v1. And we've stood side by side to check the accuracy of each laser. Both have never Ever shown any discrepancy. And for the battery life, which people say is their biggest concern with them... I got mine the beginning of the year, in January. I play multiple times a week as well as range sessions every day I don't play. ( I use it at the range quite a bit) so its been used extensively for the last 7 months. And I just replaced the battery on Saturday. Ifs $3 a battery, so I'm really not concerned with its battery consumption.

[/quote]That seems odd. I have over 50 rounds on mine with no signs of low battery. Maybe you got a drained battery from factory. I would try replacing it and if it runs down quickly again I would contact them.

I have a Nikon and play once a week on average. Battery lasts 18 months or so. On battery number 3 at the moment.

I'd stick with a 9V battery, easy to find, even in Mexico! My 1500 Bushnell lasts about 4 months, which is at least 100 rounds, shooting distances for 2 to 4 players. Best golf purchase I've ever done, oldest thing in my bag.

Thanks for the info on your situation. I do have a skin on it but figure either the battery sent from Bushnell was not so good or as you suggested the button might have been activated in the car etc.I have a new duracell in there now ( figured I would not try the energizer that Bushnell included as it might be weak as well ) heard of people taking the battery out between uses but that seems excessive.

I did buy a new duracell and going to see what happens as we still have a couple of months left in the season. if it dies again soon I will have to contact them.

I think the bottom line is that laser rangefinder batteries last a long, long time

I use a Bushnell 1600 pro and use a cheap 9V every 100 games (about). My buddy has a Bushnell medalist with the lithium 3v $10 batteries and he has to change it evry 20 games max...
