MDC Tour Blade components

My buddy built a set from the club-builder we both go to. I've hit them once or twice and can't really say there is anything special about them. You've got blade performance characteristics witout the buttery soft feel of a forged blade. Even my builder commented that he doesn't know why my friend loves the clubs since they are just a "cheap, cast head." Good shots feel okay but I've felt better. If you are one of those purest who can tell whether an iron was forged by Endo or Miura just by listening to impact than you might be disappointed :busted2: If you just want a clean looking blade and aren't overly concerned with feel than they might be worth a look.

304 stainless which is softer than what most other's use. Lofts are all jacked (24* 5-iron). I'd pass for that reason alone.

Never heard of them. They look like full clubs, I've never heard of the shafts though

They are a forged bladead on there site so someone is nut gettigettigettingttinge facts right this is there statement next to the club on there site
Compare to: Nike Blades

The MDC Tour Blade Irons are designed to provide a low handicappers dream come true at a great price! These heads are manufactured using a form- forged process, which produces a metal grain that is pure and perfectly aligned. This head design lets the lower handicap golfer work the ball just like the pros. It is designed to have a sleek and elegant blade shape accented with a beautiful mirror finish for beauty and performance that is unmatched. The minimal offset is designed for players that like to move the ball any direction needed. Don't miss

Did you guys get this

@sacredart

when checking the manufacturers website, you don't find any information on the heads being form forged. As far as I know, 304 SS is not used for form forging processes. You normally go with 8620 Carbon steel or sometimes 1020 Carbon steel. According to the Rockwell scale for hardness, 304 SS is pretty similar to 1020 or 8620. Most manufacturers I work with don't use 304 SS for irons - they only go with that material when making wedges (Titleist Vokey wedges and TWGT PCF Micro). IIRC, Tom Wishon reported, that he wouldn't use 304SS in irons due to it's properties.

All that doesn't mean, that the heads can't work for a player if fit and build correctly. I just wanted to point out, that there are some issues with the product description at the auction website compared to the manufacturers website (link already provided by balbowski)

Michael

I think the specs on the Alphagolf website are wrong. It states the 5 iron is 24 degrees but I think that should be for the 4 iron. 5 iron is 27 degrees. The ebay ad seems correct.

Can't think of any reason 304 couldn't be form forged, which is basically just cast with one pressing operation after the head is released and cleaned up. I believe Macgregor and Maxfli both made irons from 304. It's not a popular material for irons though, maybe too soft, and/or too expensive.

I have a set. They are sooo soft off the face. The lofts are weaker but the ball flights are high on the long irons. They are about 8 yards shorter than my regular irons but they are very true. The ball flight is tight. The balls check on the greens. I normally hit my 5 iron between 185-195. I hit the MDC 5 iron 175-185 but the ball flight is HIGH.

I’ve used these irons for quite some time. They legitimately don’t feel that bad. They’re no Mizuno or Miura, of course, especially since supposedly they’re not forged (I thought they were, according to the site I bought them from, and they feel nice enough to be a forged club) but I love them, especially for the price.

The lofts are not jacked, rather traditional for nowadays actually. The 4 iron is 24°, not the 5. The loft specs for them are 3-21° 4-24° 5-27° 6-31° 7-35° 8-39° 9-43° PW-47°

These are the irons I game and personally I love them.
