Chrysler Championship Pics thread...

Why do u think all of us are so interested in equiptment? Why do we keep buying the the newest and the latest, even though we have the best?  Will we ever be content with what we have? By the way gREAT PICTURES

This is a very interesting question because, as I took pictures yesterday, I realized that many tour pros use older equipment, especially irons. I saw a few sets of TM 300 irons, some older TM MB's, Titleist 670, Mizuno MP 33 (Chris Smith & Bob Tway). PGA Tour pros must know something we don't.

I'm as guilty as the next guy of trying new stuff. I think the difference between us and them is that they rely on their clubs to earn a living, therefore they stick with what works.

Great question / comment.

Makes us that don't buy the latest and greatest, rather the older stuff on the Bay for a fraction of the cost, look a little smarter :drinks: Just kidding!

This amazes me though. I love seeing the older equipment still out there and being used by the world's best. Who would have thought that those older TM Drivers and PING irons would still be in some of these bags. I guess we do have to factor in the field though. This field for this tourney isn't full of the bigger named guys, just mostly those guys fighting to keep their cards and move up on the ol money list.

Still, if this older equipment is good enough for those guys, then it is certainly good enough for me.

Even some of the "bigger" names use older clubs which are made to look like new releases. For example, Tiger's irons are relatively new for Nike, but they are simply Mizuno/Titleist blade clones with a Nike swoosh. Vijay still uses blades (CG1 I think), which are old school technology dressed up in a new outfit.

I didn't get a picture of his irons, but Zach Johnson was using the Titleist 990 irons. I was too busy getting that pic of the 905R.

Of the many players I saw yesterday, more of them use older irons than newer irons. I probably never paid much attention to it before, but taking those close-ups proved the point.

Who had the 695MB and the 695 CB irons.

The 695MB where you can see the 'Gator headcover belong to Dudley Hart. There's another set of 695MB that belong to Jason Allred. The 695CB (red paintfill) belong to Brian Bateman.

Nice pics, thansk! Do you know which players are also playing these 695MB in the Chrysler Classic? DLIII? Adam Scott?

Hogan has a new hybrid coming out this spring so it is probably that one. :clapping:

Here are a few things I forgot to mention:

1.  The Hogan hybrid (only chrome club) in Brandt Jobe's bag appears to be a prototype.  I haven't seen anything like it before, it has a thicker sole a la the Titleist 503.i or Bridgestone J33 AirMuscle, but has a cavity back.

Enjoy the pics!

I thought it was CFT 2 iron :drinks:

That particular set of 670s belongs to Jason Bohn. There are two pics, one close-up and one zoomed out showing his 'Bama Elephant headcover...the same one I have. ROOOOOLLLLLLL TIDE!

Great Pics I love these days of the week. I see alot of 300 TM's in the bags, and def a ton of tour issue spin milled wedges in play, mostly raw ones......and I wonder what that Vegas cover with the Circle T and for tour use only on it would fetch  :crazy:  :D

55513[/snapback]

Where is the vegas cover which is a circle T? I only see the regular one. :pimp:

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
