Will Tiger be the next Hogan?

I still say if Tiger never is able to fix his driving then he'll be known as a strong mental game/short game/scrambler type of player.

Def no Hogan in the ball striking machine class.

I think people forget how great he was with his irons, the way he decimated every Par 5 on tour, and his level of strength to power through major rough. He changed the game, whether he can hit the driver straight or not. Nearly every facet of his game is legendary beside that club. Even guys like Bubba are amazed by his creativity out in the course.

Even watching Rory dominate, IMO he is no where close to as complete a player Tiger was in his prime. He still has a lot of youth left though.

There will be such a forum, but it will be called "Tiger's Woods".

He does not 'own' his swing in the way Hogan was said to, but at various points he has given the appearance of owning his entire game. He has been higher up on the mountain than any other man. The stories of the way he played the game during certain periods will not get less impressive over time.

I could see either his 2000 swing or 2007 swing being lionized, for various reasons. Maybe his 2015 or 2016 swing will be the one 'post secret', but I'm not optimistic at this point.

His 1996 swing that looked a little OTT?

His 2000 swing? A thing of beauty.

His swing now? Hopefully no one teaches that.

His 2000 swing was so wide and free wheeling...just awesome to watch. He even drove it reasonably straight for as long as he was relative to the field back then.

Perhaps some will teach that model, but it won't be as iconic as Hogan's swing because Tiger chose to change and tinker with it to his own demise.

Comparing a guy that hit it pure well in to the 50's to a guy plagued by swing change, injury and none golf related drama.

I think his 2000 swing will be looked upon years from now kinda like hogans and it has in recent years. I know Tigers 2000 swing had alot of influence on my own, probably more than any other.

Tigers dad said focus on golf and screw everything else.

difference is, Hogan didnt have instructors telling him how to swing and him implementing their moves, he owned his swing. If tiger would of stuck with the 2000 swing throughout his career he would of owned it.
