San Antonio in June

I’ll be in town for a conference from the 7th-12th of June and would like to get together for a round of golf with some fellow WRXers. Obviously this is a few months away so plans etc could change. If anyone has an extra set of clubs I could borrow for the round that would be amazing, if not no worries.

La Cantera Palmer course is probably the best outside TPC San Antonio Oaks (must stay there to play, or go through mastercard golf, heard a few people have been able to call the pro shop and get a tee time). The Quarry is great, especially the back 9. The republic, silverhorn, canyone springs and olympia hills are good as well. The best muni in my opinion is Cedar Creek which is near La Cantera Palmer. A few elevated tee shots on the back as you go through a valley.

came over to san antonio a couple of weeks ago for the Valero Open, great times.

played Brackenridge in downtown and La Cantera Palmer. both great. i got a deal on the supreme golf ap brackenridge for 37 usd and the palmer course in la cantera for 100 usd.

 

they were handing out this cards at the valero, maybe you can get a deal at TPC:

Great deal! If you have a world elite mastercard (american airlines card, jetlblue, etc) you can get a similar deal or better. I played last year for $79 twilight on a Saturday.

Damn wish I was a world elite MasterCard member lol. I’m hoping to not have to pay $150+ for a round and clubs etc. but we shall see. Thanks everyone for the suggestions so far. Just a little over a month and a half left. Excited to see the city!

FYI just got an email from Alamo City Golf Trail that Brackenridge will be closed tmrw all day do to today’s storms. That leads me to believe that some other will close tomorrow too. Everything should be good to go on Saturday but may cause slightly more congestion in the area courses.

I have noticed a few places around town are in rough shape right now, especially the greens. What happened this year?

Course conditions are poor because it’s been abnormally wet and algae has grown on the greens. AFAIK quarry had a poa invasion. I never witnessed it myself. I’ve been told it’s “better” now.

 

I can personally confirm that Cedar, Brack, and silverhorn were all running smooth and good in the last week or two. Cedar just has sketch areas around the edges now

Played Cedar yesterday and course was in great shape, even after some heavy rain the night before.

 

A few greens still had sand on the very edges but overall they were really good, just a little slow with the rain.
