Callaway Matte finish ball ??

How does the Superhot matte yellow compare to the Project S matte yellow (or orange)? I bought the TM S, still not sure what do think of it in practice. Haven't played a round with it yet. My initial reaction, I prefer the old fashioned shiny ones. The TM S feels real soft on chip shots, yet feels firmer on iron shots. Weird.

The covers are extremely different. The only two matte balls that have a silicon rubber, grippy grabby feeling are the Superhot Bold and the new 2018 Volvik Vivid.

The project S has a slick matte cover like the rest of the cheaper matte balls like the Cut matte, Maxfli Softfli, Wilson Duo optix to name a few.

The slick feeling matte balls do nothing for me and seem “cheap”.

I absolutely love the concept of the brightly colored, matte finish balls. No doubt they stand out against the grass more clearly when the sun is bright and the grass is somewhat shiny. A gloss ball of any color - but especially white or yellow - isn't as easy to spot in those conditions. To me, the additional visual contrast is decidedly NOT a gimmick.

I hope this trend continues so that there will be true high-end balls offered with these color options. (E.g. TP5, B330, Srixon Z, ProV1, etc...)

So far, all the options out there are not quite what we'd call top-end balls.

Had a matte finished red and couldn't stand the intense color, so I gave it away to a lady waiting on the tee box. Performed well, but the intense colors are gimmicky. The lady seemed to like it.

I like the red. It's not gimmicky if you like being able to spot your ball just about anywhere on the course.

I'm red/green colorblind so red is completely invisible to me.

you may be right with the orange ones, I guess my experience was only with the Deep matte red ones. I couldn't believe how hard they were to see in the Fairway compared to a yellow Top Flite golf ball I put next to it.

The red matte is an oddball. One of our foursome had a Wilson red matte ball and that thing was hard to follow. We were constantly losing sight of it after being hit with the driver. When we got up next to it, it stood out so well that we wondered how we couldn't follow it.

Bringing up this thread just to void starting a new one on Superhot Bold.

I always have one or two of these in my bag. Ive recently been playing a combo of the K3, V1 and Chrome Soft. However whenever I put the SH-B into play I have good results, particularly off my irons. Its the only non-urethane ball I play on a regular basis but I feel I have the best results with this ball off my irons. As a high HC player my swing speed is not the highest and my strikes are more off center than not. Is there anything about this ball that may suit my game better than the others I play?

Saw matte supersofts at the course today. Don’t play that ball but my buddy does. The red is so easy to see it was absurd. Just saying

They track easy through the air and glow in the fairway! However, once they sit down in the rough they just as hard to find. Still managed to lose one today in some think grass when I out drove a short fairway.
