Mixing 3/8 with 0.5" length - shortcut to "MOI match" long irons

i have second thoughts about launching it like planned. It was meant to help the club builder and make it easy, but its ending up as the oposit where it really demand to much attention and knowledge from the user, if not he will not be able to use it right, so im not happy with where i ended up with it.

I already have bad experience with the simplified version since users have thought it was able to "just be used for any club or shaft", so my main goal with the full version was to take care of that, but instead of becoming a easy to use tool, it became a advanced tool only useful for those who does this on a daily basis, and already has a deeper knowledge about club tech in general, and they are not really the ones who needed it.

The problem is to make something thats both easy, safe and advanced at the same time.

- Easy for the newbie who dont have a lot of club tech knowledge....that can be done, but....

- Safe to use, thats harder, nothing can be fully automatic, it will always demand a good eye from the user to make sure all input and choices is done correct.

- Advanced, since we all have certain personal preferences it shall be able to handle on top of being easy, it will be very demanding for a user without deeper knowledge of whats up and down here.

Im still working on it since i dont want to just end the project, but like i said above, im not so sure this is a useful tool for those it was meant to be useful for, and i have no idea of how i could change it, without removing options more skilled club makers will feel needed, so its hard to make it good for all

What ive been thinking lately is to modify the simple version, and just add Drivers, Woods and Hybrids on separate page with user input of tip trim instructions the user himself have to add, to avoid a large DB of shaft like the full version has, but i have not made up my mind about that, but its a thought i have to make it useful for the regular DIY club maker.

At the moment i have a "Time out" from club making and fitting, so i mostly play golf and try to find back my swing after more than 4 years with back problems who prevented me from playing like i wanted to, but i still have a long way to go with that, but i gave my self 6 mounts off to make it, so i sure hope i can manage both before i move on from Condado De Alhama in Murcia in the end of may.

I also have a request to write a book about club tech and fitting, so even if a place in the sun sounds like lazy days only, its a lot for me to consider for the coming time, and what il end up doing for the future.

What we all know is that Club making is about to die out, schools are no longer available as they used to be, and we can see that the hole Golf equipment marked is changing, so at the moment i feel kind of obligated to keep up providing help for whose who wants to make it on their own in lack of other options, but im not sure how il do that the best.

If the knowledge of "how to" ends like it seems to, the future for serious amateur Golf players dont look good, but if im able to make a real difference to it, i really dont know, so its one of several reasons for my "time out", i have to do what i feel is right to do, but at the moment its everything but clear since the options is to many.

I'm very interested in implementing some of this stuff into my next build. However I'm a student and no longer have access to my home shop. Is there anyone in the Bay Area that would be willing to let me come over and work through a build using your supplies? I of course will provide what I can and compensate in whatever way wanted

Howard, how is the program development progressing?

ive stopped, it want be useful for any other then highly skilled users (and they dont need it in the first place), so i kind of messed up, instead of a tool easy to use, it demands to much of the user to prevent errors, so most will do better without, or by assistance of the simplified version.

@"Howard Jones" so if I am understanding this correctly (I did a lot of research on this last night after ordering a swingweight scale) then I could pick my favorite club to hit, say a 8iron and butt trim the longer irons while just lead taping the shorter irons to get "semi-moi" matched set?

I want to try this with my z785 irons based on my 8iron length of 36.5 inches and my plan of attach is as follows.

1. Determine as-is swing weight of 8i which is a current favorite club. Let's assume that it is D3 as stated by the manufacturer.

2. Trim longer irons accordingly as listed in the table below and add lead tape to get swing weights of shorter irons to values in table. (this assumes 0.5SWP for 3/8 spacing and 0.67SWP for 4/8 spacing)

Am I on the right track here? I will be using the golfworks economy scale so I cant get too accurate on the fractional swing weights but I will get close.
