Why cant I stop flaring my elbow.

I know its not necessarily the worst thing but I just cant keep that elbow tucked and I feel like it makes it hard to come from the inside....

Have you practiced a one piece takeaway? I have this issue too when out of practice/not playing a ton, and it’s basically all in the initial move of my takeaway.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean when you say flaring your elbow, I suspect it’s your left elbow at the top of the swing?

if so, I’d say it’s just a byproduct of going a fair bit past parallel.

I think your swing is quite good and it’s hard to tell in slomo but it’s like you’ve got good rhythm.

Someone else pointed out the past parallel thing too which is funny because I feel like I'm swinging 80% lol.

Very similar swing to what I have going on. I’ve been told it’s an over swing related to my trail arm losing extension. Looks like a similar thing to you. My normal swing, it is long and point across the line unless I take a 1/4 feeling swing which feels awful. Today I practiced keep extension and I could take my full swing and it wouldn’t cross the line or be over swing.

Overall good swing by you. Extension will keep you from wanting to turn more. Arms seem to run on after shoulders stop turning just like I do. What has helped me get in a better start is by pushing club back with left hand real low, keeping that one piece, with minimal shoulder rotation. This is to help sync up the hands and shoulders.

 

Warning: it feels awful trying to learn how to hit with the club so far away from your head when you are use to it starting near your head.

Ha, thanks Ill give that a shot. I look much cleaner with an iron, for some reason my driver is my most "over swung" club ;)

Maybe trying to flatten the lead wrist at the top would help for shortening your swing
