cough....cough......let me clear my throat

YES

Both courses are fantastic....Monument is no slouch by any means...it is a pleasure to play, interesting views, homes around it and layout. There are just a couple holes that I think were not done to "Troon North" standards.....

Pinnacle...while I havent played either one in a few months...is my personal favorite public course down here....but there are many close seconds

Rest assured...your headed to the right club if your only playing one and do not have access to the Private courses around here......(Mirabel, Whisper Rock, Desert Mountains etc.....)

Enjoy....good time of year to play for an out of towner.....near perfect weather.

I can't speak from recent experience, but I played both the Monument and Pinnacle courses about 10 years ago and they were both excellent courses. If the opportunity presents its self I would certainly play them again. There are a number of courses in that area that are excellent tracks.

I don't think you will be disappointed in any way if you decide to play Pinnacle.

If you do play I hope you are hitting it pretty straight - the desert is unforgiving!

I played both courses last summer and enjoyed them a lot.

I think I liked Pinnacle better, especially the back nine.

I'm not sure what you're paying to play, but if you're in Phoenix this time of year, you know what your getting into price-wise. I felt luck to play these courses for what I paid in August (~$100 for a two-round deal).

I just got back from AZ. I played troon on my last day as I thought that would be the highlight of our trip. Man was I wrong Troon is a very nice course but imo does NOT even come close to the Cholla at WE-KO-PA.. I played Cholla on the first day and I wished I would have saved that course till the last day.. I would not play troon again there are so many better courses in AZ.... Good luck with the trip...

Troon North IMHO is a tad over-rated...nice...just that all I heard it was supposed to be...was able to play with some members and without their course knowledge it would have been a bit disappointing....however the WE-KO-PA course was a really nice layout and truly enjoyed the day there.

Troon North sets the standard for upscale daily fee courses with superb conditioning, top notch service, spectacular scenery and two solid golf courses.

They also set the standard for high season rack rates of $295 weekend / $250 weekday. Even at discounted rate, which seems to be around $175, not worth it IMHO.

Of course, my viewpoint is skewed somewhat because I live here and can play any of the high end public golf courses in Arizona for $60 or less in the summer.

I understand that a winter visitor may have different price point however. If I were going to pay $175, I would play We-Ko-Pa Saguaro, a course that is ranked in the top 100 modern USA courses (GolfWeek).

The "new" Pinnacle course actually used one of the 9's from the Monument course and flipped based off flow fro the clubhouse. I play Troon once a month and of the two, Pinnacle is better in my opinion. Better in design which I feel can be a better test of golf. The slope on this side is a bit higher, but either course is always in great condition.

Like others have stated, there are better course designs and and real tests here in the valley. I like Boulders, Legend Trail, We-Ko-Pa better to play golf, but Troon and the "whole experience" is just as good as anywhere.
