Heavy shaft for Titleist 910D2

Ahina82 / RIP 80 / PX 8C4
Currently Bomb the TM SFTP 2.0 8.5 with an RIP 70. Have a 910 D2 head that I have tried a number of shafts in that spin wayyyy to much. Thought a heavier shaft may help with launch and spin. Anyone have experience with these heavier shafts or with the D2 and spin issues? Will the D3 solve some of that? Any recommendations are welcome. The SFTP 2.0 is just a tad too much fade for me. I like the draw, play it normally, can even live with the fade, but misses with the SFTP 2.0 turn into slices. Looking optomize the Titleist D2 I have or could get (D3?) Thanks!

Some flavor of the month driver.
Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.
Titleist blades when I feel lucky otherwise something more forgiving.
A Vokey wedge or 2.
I hate every one of my 17 putters.

I game a 910D3 8.5 degree head with Project X 8C4 shaft due to high spin issue with other shafts. Club length is 44.5" and swingweighted at D-4 with 12 gram weight in head. Hit it straight, or slight fade, where as the 7C3 produced draws to hooks for me. Did not care for Ahina or Rip in either version, went with what fit my game the best.

I think I'm going to have to try out a PX8C4, My RIP 70 is pretty stout, the RIP 80 may be too much for me. Hows the PX compare to the RIP, a little smoother perhaps?

I have a D2 with the made for Ahina 72g Stiff. I swing in the low 100's normally and can put on a few more when balanced and need to rip it. At first I fought the fades but reset the club head to D2 and I'm pretty straight with it now. It's a long-ish driver but not the longest I've ever hit. I've also hit the D3 head in various shafts and haven't found them too different other than appearance. I'd like to try out the PX as so many here rave on it's performance.

I've got an 'ahina 70 s (not the MFT 'ahina) and find it's doing what I want it to do. It keeps my ball flight nice and flat and the ball gets a decent amount of roll after it hits the ground. Dispersion is good and I really have to goof up my swing to miss to the left. A normal swing (club set to A1) will produce a straight shot or possibly a tiny draw. I'd say try the 'ahina 80, Whiteboard 83, or a Rombax 8Z08.

I have the 910D2 9.5 with a MFT ahina 82s -- I have a naturally high ball flight with the driver, and ended up with this combination after a fitting at a demo day earlier this spring.

At first, they wanted me to try out the D3 head to drop the launch angle and spin, but there was just something about that head that didn't work for me. So, went back to the D2 and worked to find a better shaft for my swing. Started with the kaili -- their standard middle-of-the-road shaft, and I hit that WAY too high with too much spin. Moved to the RIP 60 -- results were inconsistent for me, and the flight was still too high. Was going to try the ahina 72, but somebody else was hitting that, so he threw in the 82 -- worked perfectly. Nice medium trajectory, flat at the top, lots of carry (plus, we were hitting into the wind, and there was no ballooning whatsoever). Tried the 72 when that came free, but the results were nowhere near what I got with the 82. So, back to the 82 to verify -- definitely was the shaft for me.

Now, if you spin the ball too much, going to the D3 will definitely help as well -- seen multiple posters indicate that they dropped an average of 500 rpm going from the D2 to the D3 with the same shaft. But if you like the look and fell of the D2, you may not like switching to the D3.

I'm only a moderate hitter (at least compared to some of the people on this site) -- I just went today to compare ball speeds on a few different balls with my driver, and I averaged 148 on a center hit with a ProV1X (142 with a Nike One Tour, which I have been using up to today). So if you generate considerably more ball speed, you may still spin it too much even with this shaft, but I found that it did a great job dropping the trajectory down and dropping the backspin.

Looks like I need a date with the titleist fitting cart and the px8c4 and ahina 82. Thanks for the educated responses.

My RIP 80 combo was the lowest spin option for me at the performance center. Next in line where Real Ahina 80, Devotion 7, px 8A4 in that order.

In my experience if you can handle the RIP 70 you can handle the 80 in same flex. Just plays tighter for me with lower spin then 70. Feel for me is basically equal between the two.

Good Luck
