2014 Taylormade Gloire Driver

idrive

Recommended Posts

This is the easiest driver to hit the fairway with I've ever played. It is as long if not longer than the sldr. Both the

domestic and the JDM version.

In my mind this is the future for the driver. For all you non belivers I'll pull this thread up in a couple of years and

we'll see if I was right. Like all the new technology once they bring the price down and can make it cheap for the

US market it will be the future. This is the 3rd year for this technology and the price is coming down each year the

same as the sweetspot and forgiveness is getting bigger and better. The stock shaft is pretty good too

What it's all about:

The Taylormade Japan 2014 Gloire Driver features an all new design with added forgiveness to their popular "new concept" Gloire drivers released previously. It features the same 460cc head size with an oval face shape tha has allowed the hitting area to become 30% larger and the "sweet area" 55% larger than the previous model. It features a a 5gram weight port that is placed near the heel area in the sole to promote a full release of the toe; helping to produce a strong draw flight to maximize distance. It features a new crown design that is light weight and has a new paint design that helps assist in alignment.

The face material is a unique carbon composite that consistes of 70 thin layers along with a Urethane outer layer. This is a very unique feature to the Gloire drivers and produces a softer feel than any other driver on the market. The Carbon and Urethane materials abosrb vibration much easier than traditional steel/titanium therefore allowing for a very soft feel, while the multi layer consturction makes the face just as strong as steel for exceptional energy transfer for distance. The interior of the head features a new "sound rib" construction, which is a special channel that is made to promote a higher pitch and strong sound at impact. This helps create a very crisp and strong sound as with a forged titanium face, while the Carbon Composite material gives it a uniquely soft feel.

The new Gloire Driver comes standard with a new GL2200 carbon shaft. It features a new "Nanoalloy" technology which is a special weaving pattern of the carbon sheets that help prevent deformation of the shaft during the swing. This means more consistensy in performance and a soft, smooth feel. The GL2200 is made for a high launch. It can also be upgraded to a Fubuki 50K carbon shaft that is made for the more aggressive swingers and produces a strong mid launch.

So, I'm assuming I'll need a home equity loan to get one. If I had any equity that is.

I have all the Glorie versions, including the 2014 model. The winter has been so bad this year that I haven't had a chance to test it in anything close to playable conditions. I loved the 1st Glorie, the 2ND was longer but I couldn't get it dialed in as it was harder to square the toe thru impact. The 2014 Glorie has the face material of the Glorie Reserve, but the balance thru impact of the 1st Glorie. Also worth a mention is the new 2014 Glorie 3w. It has the same speed pocket slot as the SLDR FWS , and also adjustable, with a titanium face. but much easier to hit off the deck and equally good off the tee.

if you don't mind me asking, where'd you buy it at? I've been looking at this driver for the past few days and all the websites I've seen it for sale on are somewhat sketchy.

And can you post some pictures?

Did you get the stock GL2200 shaft or the upgraded Kubuki K50 shaft? I am still waiting for the price of the Kubuki version to come down a bit.
Stock shaft which is very good. Unless the Kubuki is a favorite shaft I wouldn't bother with it.

Also bought a couple of adapters and installed on a couple of my favorite shafts that I'm currently giving a go with.

I have the FE on 1st gen Gloire which is great. Use the Taylormade R11 adapter (1.5*) and works fine.

What makes it so great? You gave design info but no reason why any of this is better or how/why it is better and the next big thing. With the onslaught by Callaway on TM, why wouldn't they go ahead and release it?

Sorry, not believing the hype. Very few new drivers have been better than others over the last 3-4 yrs. did cor change? Did moi change? Did size increase over 460? The square drivers were the most forgiving but gave up some distance. Non square drivers have nearly caught up in forgiveness.

If you are telling me that it is more forgiving than my k15 and g25 and longer than both. I am all in but it will have yo be proven to me.

I didn't ask you to believe anything. Like I said, time will tell.

Playing a couple of different shafts this week. We'll see if there's anymore distance to be had with this puppy.

Yahoo Japan has some going for 42000 yen which comes out to $420 right now "Buyee's" fee and shipping
brings it to about $500 delivered.

Aesthetically though this has got to be one of the sharpest drivers on the market ANYWHERE! In due time would they ever introduce the Gloire line to the American TM consumer? A hefty price drop would be absolutely lovely as well but one can only dream.

An interesting looking driver to say the least. Don't see one in my immediate future due to the price. Why does Japan get all the good stuff?

Just the stock shaft.

Going through a bunch of shafts at the moment testing.

Fire Express LD @ 45.5"
GD Tour AD MT-5 @ 45.5" / MT-6 @ 45"
Diamana B @ 45"
Waiting on a couple of more (shaft) adapters.

I"m not a fan of Driver length over 45". When they're longer than that I usually choke down to keep it 45"

Have put a small lead strip on botton of head to keep SW up in the D1-3 range depending on the shaft.

Just bought a mint 2014 for my golf buddy for $360. Of course, I would test it against my 1st generation and Maxima before I pass it on to my friend. Thats my handling charge.
Very reasonable handling charge. Please post your thoughts and comparisons when finished "handling" :)

I'll second that... Just came back from a few rounds in Phoenix and the Gloire 2014 is a fairway finder.....depending on which shaft game. I have a Veylix Rome with the Gloire head and once it's dialed in, it was hard to miss the short grass....but also hard to work the ball....

To put it in perspective, in the last year, I gamed the RBZ, Stage 2, Gloire Gen 1 & 2, D3, R1, and Covert and the Gloire out performs said drivers in terms of fairways hit, feel, and distance...well it was pretty equal in distance with the Stage 2
