I played Gold Canyon years ago and it's on my list to play again.

 

Ocotillo is another one I thought was great years ago. The Pointe at Tapitio Cliffs was cool but I think it has a different name now.

That's an interesting mix.

 

Longbow is located in NE Mesa on a flat piece of ground that, though there is some mounding on the course. It's a desert course, but the fairways and greens are surrounded by waste areas, so you still have a shot if you miss the green stuff. Bring a desert club and a draw wouldn't hurt.

 

The Gold Canyon courses are desert courses at their finest. Worth the trip out there for the views.

 

Silverado lies in a floodplain in central Scottsdale. It's a decent little track for a tuneup round when you arrive, but not really special. There is no driving range, so keep that in mind.

 

Kokopelli is tight. Leave the driver in the bag and you'll do fine.

 

Karsten, in my view, is the best of the lot. It lies on the edge of the ASU campus, near a dry riverbed. It may be the worst piece of land I've ever seen, but the course itself is a gem. Just pay not attention to the power plant and power lines next door.

 

I've played Foothills and Arrowhead and enjoyed both, but it's been so long, I remember very little about either. Good luck.

Hi simp, just returned from Scottsdale and i have posted a few pic's from Foothills, nice course you will enjoy it.

 

Longbow is nice , was in perfect condition when i played it.

 

GC Dinosaur is one of the most dramatic courses in the area, i will have pictures of it next week, i am playing both courses next Wednesday.

 

have not played the others .

 

ASU is a nice golf course , conditions can be rough sometimes, not many flat lies even in the fairway, i always enjoy playing here, pace can be very slow as well, but overall good choice.

Foothills is a fine course. Easy if you stay out of trouble, but brutal if you stray into the desert or bunkers. The greens are good too, ranging from medium to pretty tough. Several are multi-tiered. If you can, wait until twilight/supertwilight rates kick in. The proshop guys are great too. They gave me supertwilight rates even before the cutoff time.
