The new hosel tech has two major flaws

The best miss was once was from the sweet spot

towards the hosel . The new adjustable hosels have taken that away from golfers.

In fact, i was informed by Golfsmith employees , 1 out of 20 drivers with this hosel tech break at the hosel when hit there.

I think this is under the radar info but it makes sense. Lost forgiveness and durability versus adjustability .

I think most of the issues have been resolved. I had this happen when the first Nike VR pro came out and it snapped at the hosel and I also had a buddy that had 2 of his drivers do the same. I've never had any issues with my R1. I think it makes life alot easier for the manufactures to just mass produce one driver and you set the loft your self.

You know, I wish I could agree about being non sense but after 30 years of being a club maker I have had forgiveness test done on club faces.

No the Golfsmith employees were not trying to sell me anything. We share facts the public is not aware of.

The public should demand these forgiveness test be publicized when new design are brought to market. They do them during the designing stage. Why not compare.

Do most golfers know where the best place to miss the shot on the club face? IMO no.

I was hoping you would share some of your "under the radar" information. Sharing opinions and, especially, knowledge is what GolfWRX is all about.

The best miss a heeler? What kind of hogwash are you trying to sell us? 1 out of 20 clubs breaking? What were the causes of the other 19? Some guy at Golfsmith giving anecdotal testimony is hardly damning evidence.

The best place to "miss" it is just above the centre of the face for many modern drivers.

Whether or not they know where to miss it, the average joe hits it dead off the heel. Give 100 hacks a 100 drivers and almost every one that gets broken will be just above the hosel whether or not it is a sleeved driver or a glued driver and there is no disputing what the cause was. Operator error.

Finally,

Ask your manufacture for impact data for impacts other than the sweet spot. On the club face .

And, this is why I replied that I was hoping you could share all of that "under the radar" information with us on the GolfWRX Forum.

This is valueable information. It could, very well, cure a lot of us from the bad habit of switching drivers every three weeks.....OK, reduce/control the habit.

We call it hoarding or being "hoes" :haha:

It is like when we are lost and refuse to ask for directions. I ask, but most golfers are men and want to find it themselves.
I could tell that the shaft's torque and flex plays a bigger role in squaring the club face than the head but who wants to know.

I could tell u forgiveness areas of the head are very important because most golfers hit those areas more than the sweet spot.
But will manufacture give those COR readings to compare.
Maybe someone should ask for those readings.

Maybe some should start use face tape to see consistency of impacts

You keep talking about this and talking about that and you have all this data and when someone asks you to explain or relate it, you give all this cryptic mumbo-jumbo about finding it yourself or whatever. It really makes me wonder if you are full of it and have no clue and just being someone that needs to be put on ignore?

My R11 did break at the hotel sending the head flying a good 20 yards.

I guess there's my 1/20 :)

Explain what
Let me make it clear.
I . The areas around the sweet spot area very important to non pros. Do u know which driver has the best . No Find out from your manufacture what those COR data is if u can.
2. With a doubt, the shaft characteristics are more important to you than changing your loft and club face angle.
3. Is this tech worth losing forgiveness and duriability. Not no but no no IMO only

You are like the people I teach . They want lessons but they really don 't need them

100% false that is of course if you meant to say "without a doubt" other wise I guess it's 100% true.

I work for one of the largest golf retailers in Canada. We are very close to the major OEMs and we become aware very quickly of any product issues. I can assure you, this is not one of them. Of all the warranty issues I have seen and shared with coleagues across our network of more than 130 locations, I have never...I repeat, never seen drivers break at the hosel...at least not since the very first Sumo hit the stores.
Our collective legs are being given a yank by the OP, methinks.

I meant to say without a doubt. The shaft.

I don't care if they break or not. I don't own one and would not use one if they gave it to me. It is your money.
If the OEM manufacturers watch this forum like Canada said. How about sharing the COR readings of their drivers outside the sweet spot.
That would very informative. Then have the old style readings to compare. That would be eye opener. They can't publish the sweet spot COR but they can outside the sweet spot.
