Played in the World Par 3 Championships in Bermuda

I spent the weekend in Bermuda playing in the World Par 3 Championships. The course was in great condition and we benefitted from some great weather. The rain fortunately held off until today(leaving day). The Fairmont Southampton is a beautiful hotel and the staff was friendly and accomodating. The head professional, Anthony Mocklow, ran a great event along with the PGA of Canada. Everything was professionally done and ran smoothly. There were 154 players, including Ronan Rafferty, Barry Lane, Charlie Rymer, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. Win McMurry was also on hand. The course is extrememly difficult, hilly and windy. Almost every hole on this golf course would be one of the best par 3 holes on any full size course. Do yourself a favor and look into playing in this event in the future. You will have a great time.

Sounds like a blast, i spend a lot of time on par 3 courses as im in the process of teachin my 12yo son to play golf. ill have to look into this, how did you do?

I went on a vendor trip to the Fairmont Southhampton a few years ago. I remember how nice that par 3 course was. I thought about playing a round until I figured out the cost of club rental and green fee was going to be more than a month's dues at my club at home.

It was only $225 for amateurs to enter. Of course, you have to fly to Bermuda and they had a nice room rate for the participants. I finished well back in the amateur division but many were betting that I could not walk the course for 36 holes so just finishing was a win.
