Myrtle beach/North Myrtle

It looks like after graduation in May, I will be accepting a job in North Myrtle Beach. Being from Maine, I don't have a ton of access to golf shops other than the one I work in. Where do you guys go and trust for golf equipment and club work? I know there are a ton of places down there including pro shops at the courses. Just wondering if one or two stick out above the rest. Thanks guys!

I lived in this general area once upon a time and have a good friend that lives down here that won four times on the Nike tour and then played 4 years on the PGA Tour as well. There is only one person he trusts and I have visited him a couple of times as well and he is the best I have dealt with.....

Al Cloyd, he is out at Possum Trot Golf club in North Myrtle Beach. They also have one of the best practice areas around as well which is an added bonus.

Martin's PGA superstore is huge and has every club you could ever want.

I'd have to respectfully disagree about the practice facility but agree with your recommendation of Al.

JK but my mom lives down there and doesn't seem to be much in the way of employment. Real estate is dirt cheap though.

I have heard lots of good things about Al.

The old Golf Dimensions was good at Club repair but they are now sold to GolfSmith. They are in Central MB so you could try them, but i would stick to Al.

Let me re-phrase, they used to have a great practice area. The range also used to be lighted which hitting balls in the summer surely helps being able to at night.

Once it is finished at Shaftesbury Glen the SC Golf Center will be the premier place to practice and learn in Myrtle Beach. http://www.scgolfcenter.com/
They will be building a short game area and some other things like indoor hitting bays as well.

Hugh Royer III is the teaching professional there and he is where the Al Cloyd recommendation came to me first quite a few years ago.

Maybe they do a better job now, I was there a while back and would never step foot in that place again. Bad service. VERY BAD.
