Yea when I picked it out, the combination of the headweight and the really deep cavity were huge for me. I like some auditory feedback, and this putter has a nice click when struck well.

Some hardo in another thread a while ago told me "If you don't have the money to replace it, you shouldn't buy it". Why would I have to replace it? I take extra precautions to make sure something like that doesn't happen and if that means looking like an idiot walking around the clubhouse with a putter in hand, so be it.

Minor changes to the headshape.

The CNC machine used to mill the 009M has 5 axis heads, and is new (old was 3). Allows for higher precision, less weight loss in the process, and fewer micro pockets or cavities. Also the face milling is a reflection of this new machine. Less than a gram is removed from the putter in whole process. The shaping of the sole is unique as well, allowing for individual setups to not shut or open the blade at address. Softened the overall shape of the design, and with the new technology, each one is closer to a perfect example of the original and intended design.

This one predates Circle T stamps and tour dots. Made for a one-time winner on the PGA tour who went onto the senior tour. Out of all the Newports I've ever seen, this has by far the thinnest topline. Feels remarkably soft at impact. May need a bit of lead tape on the sole, but that original oil can finish is drool-worthy.

Drool... Nice sticks boss! How do you even decide which to use?

 

I try to stick to a single putter for the majority of my rounds which is usually, at least historically, my deep milled TeI3. If the weather is really bad though and I don't feel like maintaining the finish on the TeI3, I'll grab a Button Back instead. If my stroke is feeling a little off though, I'll switch things up just to help get my concentration back on track. I usually grab the Tour Rat when that is the case. I just got the Super Rat last fall so it hasn't seen much action but it's a solid putter. That one is really hard to leave behind. I just put it back in the bag last week though and it's spot there is likely very safe. It can be hard to decide though. For the most part, all my putters have a very similar look and feel (they are all naked Newport style Camerons) so it's easy to switch from one to another. A little carpet putting the night before and some extra work on the greens the next day and I'm pretty acclimated to the "new" flatstick. Trying to decide between all the putters in the stable though has been a really nice problem to have. Maybe one of these days I'll find the "magic" in one of them and it will just stay put?
