Project X Flighted 6.0 Shafts

Recommended Posts

I have a new set of uncut Project X Flighted 6.0 Shafts I was going to shaft my set of Callaway Razr X Forged Mucsleback Irons 2~PW .

I was wondering what these Shafts are like in use I have never used any of the Project X Shafts.......how do these compare to KBS Tour

C-Taper 125g s+(6.8 soft stepped once = 6.6) I like this stiffness. I was thinking about hard stepping the PX 6.0 shafts once would be

6.3 and twice would be 6.6 I'm doing the math in my head but the numbers should be close. I've heard good and bad things about the

PX's. The PX's should be a higher trajectory but with hard stepping them it should bring it down closer to my KBS c-tapers right. I also

have a set of KBS Tour V TalorMade Prototype Shafts(3or4~W) I was thinking about these as well is anybody playing any of these

Shafts.........any Help would be Greatly Appreciated. Take it Easy, Mike " Go Play "

I have these in my ping i20's , factory installed in the 6.0 flex as well. My observation is that the shaft needs to be loaded properly. By that I mean I have to be firm/aggressive almost in my swing to get the performance out of them, in the low irons, it helps me really elevate the 4-5-6 irons. Mid irons and short irons are lower in ball flight. Some people say they feel harsh, some people love them. Myself if I could do it over again, I think I would of been better off in PINGs CFS shaft in stiff flex, that shaft felt smoother and was easier for my swing type to load. From what I noticed was that it takes me a few holes to warm up if I hit the course straight from the parking lot instead of the range in order to extract the performance out of them. Hope that helps.

Dont hard step them before you have tested 1 iron.
- Take a cheap grip and cut of the grip cap so there is a hole strait trough
Measure 1 iron 0.5 longer than needed, and put the grip on so 0.5 comes out of the butt.
Now you can test 1 iron with full return, but i dont see any reason to go HS1 if KBS Tour S+ is good for you

I like my PX Flighted. I soft-stepped them once and they fit me perfectly. Just be careful you do not overdo the stepping as they are designed to flight certain clubs and you could start to see a higher/lower ball flight than what you desire.

I have them in the set you are going to put them in. They feel great in that club head and work well for me, I do have an aggressive swing and really hit down on the ball no sweeper here.

Non Flighted PX 6.0's frequency out at 6.5. Not sure about the Flighted but think they will be similar in the mid and short irons. I agree with Howard's recommendation to trial first. PX feels harsh to many, so going softer might be a good thing.

As others have said, as long as you come down hard into the ball these should play beautifully, especially with those Cally's.

Couldn't agree more - the PX Flighted 6.0 shafts have served me very well over the past 7 years. I play a combo set of 8-PW cally MBs and 4-7 2013 x forged. I swing smooth with a slow take away/transition and prefer to sweep my irons, but I gather quite a bit of speed at impact. Typical 7 iron in the Midwest carried around 170-175, but it's been further since moving to the high altitude of Colorado.

The PX Flghted shafts are perfect for a smooth swinger who wants total control over trajectory. They are easy to hit high, low and everywhere inbetween.

I dread the day I have to change irons because they aren't making these great shafts anymore and I don't know where to start when it comes to replacing them

I just put these in my Mizunos a few weeks ago and really like them. I dont think they are harsh at all which some people say. They help launch the ball higher with the long irons and great mid piercing flight with short irons. Dispersion is the greatest improvement for me using these shafts

I think when the time comes I will be researching how to make a set of these on my own by hard/soft stepping 5.5-6.5's.

I bought my 712 AP2's with PX Flighted 6.5 in them. I thought they were a very smooth feeling shaft. They do not have the boardy feel of the original PX. They do play a half flex softer than the standard PX though. I ended up putting KBS Tour S in them though, because I was ballooning too many of my short irons with the PX Flighted.

I would be careful hard or soft stepping the PX Flighted shafts. They are unique because the 4-7 iron shafts are specifically made with a weaker mid section to allow you to get the ball in the air easier, the 8-PW shafts are actually just standard PX shafts. I would just worry that switching them around may mess up the flow of your set. If that makes any sense...

I'm not sure what I'm going to do either. I have looked around the forums a little bit for a comparable shaft even if it's just feel minus the flighted. I haven't found anyone that could give a reliable answer.

As for the OP, the flighted are a half flex softer than the non-flighted so keep that in mind when choosing how you want to step them.

I've got a set of the PX Flighted 6.0 in my AP2s and I love them. I'm not sure if it's just that they fit my swing very well but for me they feel very smooth and I picked up about a club in distance from the flatter flight that I'm getting vs. Dynamic Gold. If I can't find a new set when I order my next set of clubs, I may have to pull them and swap them over.

These shafts still working for you? I may try 6.0 flighted. I've used DG S300 for many years, like them but always wanted to try PX.
