Graphite Shafts in Wedges?

I am looking into getting new wedge shafts and was wondering if anyone has ever tried putting graphite shafts in wedges. Any experience, thoughts or comments?

Yep, I have them in mine. But the whole set is matched Callaway X-Hot graphite regular flex. I did get the lob wedge in "senior" flex after reading some of the discussions on WRX.

The matched set is nice since loft is the only variable.

Of course, this goes against the accepted configuration oft discussed on this site.

I've got graphite shafts in my wedges - Recoil Proto 125 F4's. I have the Wedge shaft in my 52* and the softstepped 9 iron shaft in the 56* and 60*.

for most, its a great idea for the SW, as long as the swingweight is kept at normal to higher levels. The extra mass will increase acceleration/momentum (E=1/2mv² or F=ma) and help you get out of the bunker more times.

For consistency you can always play the same graphite shaft that's in your irons or to restore feel, play a slightly heavier and/or slightly more flexable graphite shaft in all your wedges than your irons.

For greater acceleration, graphite can help. Many people don't get out of sand because of a lack of club-head speed so lighter weight graphite is an advantage.

For those with the Recoil Pro 125 - whats the club like in full swing, any looseness, better or less dispersion as compared to the class steel shafts when you had them? I have the Recoil Pro 95 F4s in all my G25 irons and mulling whether to keep my 2 wedges in the steel or not. I have no issues transitioning from the Recoils to my 56* ATV/52* Rotex (soon to be a 56* Nike x3x Toe Sweep).

I find the opposite in bunkers - heavy shafts are a more solid resistance to sand and have more momentum going through.

The Recoil Protos are the best iron shaft I've played. I was a diehard DG S300/S400 player for years, and the Protos are much better for me. Dispersion is much tighter - ball flight is very straight.

Nothing wrong with playing a graphite shaft in your SW.
I use the same shaft through the entire set as I want the same feel to exist throughout the set.
I do play all my wedges with the same swing as my irons, so I don't want to be making an adjustment to my swing just because its a wedge.
Consistency is always a goal within my theories.
