Wow, I don't think the VPC are a game improvement iron, they are a players club, IMHO. The Speed set is game improvement. I think Nike did a fantastic job with the VPC, nice thin topline, less offset, great feel. I liked the CF, but felt they were a little clunky, to me the VPC is a prefect iron. Too each his own I guess, but I feel that the VPC irons still require a quality strike, and consistent impact, are they more forgiving than the Pros, sure, but still need to be consistent with the strike.

The vapor pro combo 4-iron reminded me of the old Cleveland VAS irons...way too much offset and massive sole width. That's my opinion. Everyone is free to form their own assessment.

For those you that got custom shafts in the VPC... what is the average price for steel? I'm looking at the Nippon1150, PXI, KBS Tour in the spring. Also while I'm on customization, I noticed some posters getting the irons 2 degrees strong. How does that effect the beveled leading edge's turf interaction ?

I was going to purchase a set of VPC but the uncharge for shafts was going to hurt my wallet; I ended up going with a VERY UNIQUE set of Mizuno's and they are not charging for upgraded shafts. I was able to get the following for $1K:

3: MP-H5
3, 4, 5: JPX-850 Forged
6,7,8,9,PW: MP-15

All with KBS Tour X (soft stepped) and not to mention there Mizuno SHAFT OPTIMIZER was great fitting.

I did not realize that the KBS Chasse were charges. How much were they asking for in the Nike? Plus you chose a really good sense anyways to go with Mazeno irons are amazing I feel great you know they're going to be good sticks play well with them!

I would love to let people know what my shop was charging because I discussed several shaft options with my shop before settling on the Modus 3. I'm sure I could lend so good info on the Nike upcharges if it's allowed.

Its not really allowed, its not "illegal", but the board frowns upon posting prices here. I know that a vendor got in trouble for their prices. So, I would not do it.

I will say this. For $1k you could've got a sick set of vapors or any combo of the three vapors sets with a wide variety of shafts offered by Nike.

so played my first round with these today. oiy! it was rough. I had a horrible day with the driver which meant a long day with everything else. I wasn't striking the irons like i usually do (why I am a higher handicap haha. can't stay consistent). But I will say on solid strikes, these were just as long as my Bio Cel+ which is great because the BCs are stronger lofts for the most part. On bad shots (seemed like a lot today haha), they flew pretty close to normal. Little shorter obviously, but wasn't killer. The only time I just killed my distance was on bad toe shots. I will be playing again Sunday, and I am hoping my game comes back around. I will say this though, even with some bad ball striking, I only shot 8 shots higher than my handicap (96). I think that says some good about the irons' forgiveness. Plus my putting was pretty good today haha. Like I said, hopefully I have better review on Sunday. Sorry this was such a dud haha

I would use the 58 anywhere around the green. The 54 would be my main bunker wedge unless I was short side or had a big lip to get over.

My 58 is used for all my shots around the greens including bunker shots. Right now i don't carry a SW at all, so 58 gets most of that duty. I'm only carrying 13 clubs right now, so the idea of changing up the wedge system is kind of tempting.
