Onoff Kuro Forged Irons

Just received my set and man are they stunning! I'm coming from the 2011 Onoff forged model so I know pretty much how these should play…soft and long. I've read that these are an upgrade from the 11's and maybe not so much from the 13's. These are the clubs that got me started in the whole JDM fanaticism. The way they moved the tungsten weights with their logo is genius. I shafted them with the new Nippon Modus System 25s. Hopefully these will be better than the super peening blues I have in the 11's but if not I'll just swap them around. Won't be able to hit the range til later this week but I thought I'd post some pictures for you guys that are curious what they look like in hand.

love the laser milling on the face and how they move their square logo through out the set to move CG.
Modus3 Tour 125 is a great shaft but curious to find out the ST proto played on tour.

I gotta say after a range session that these irons are an upgrade from 2011 version. I was able to work the ball with ease. Toe hits felt a little harsh like any other iron but distance wasn't penalized too bad. The longer irons are definitely easier to hit than the 11's. It's just an all around performer. Has the same great feel and a touch more forgiving. Can't wait to see if the laser millings have any effect on real balls on greens.

What is the laser milling supposed to do? It looks so minute and thin that I would think it is mostly cosmetic. I would like to know how it will benefit long irons. Wedges...meh? Any data showing a benefit based upon physics? Or, is it to simulate the effect rust has on raw irons? Increased friction which also increases spin/ maybe a good or bad thing. What happens when it wears off like Rotex and Mackdaddy wedges, they don't look so good after 8-10 rounds.

I am not trying to be confrontational, just curious. Sometimes it's hard to tell online:>)

It's supposed to help with spin when the ball or club face gets wet. Will it I have no idea but the concept is there. My 2011 version didn't have it.

Don't know about these specifically, but the cross hatching on my Yamahas definitely has made a difference in both shot dispersion and consistency, lending a different feel (for me) on accuracy. I'd have to hit some without the milling there to know for sure if it's the overall iron design or the milling, but I'm too happy with the precision to care... <g>

These are more forgiving the the 11's??? I felt like they were as forgiving as you could get in a forged CB..

Slightly yes. You really start to notice it in the 4, 5 and 6 irons. I do have to say that I really enjoy the pw on these. Not sure if there is really any difference but I just felt like I could do whatever I wanted with it. I agree, the 2011s are as forgiving as it it gets.

Rakuten is legit. I've ordered from that site before but not from that seller. You need to do a pretty large amount of sales before you can even be a seller on there. With the weak yen to usd right now, you can get some pretty amazing deals on quality jdm equipment. Shipping is usually very reasonable too and fast. I usually get my stuff within a week.

It's amazing that they have the Onoff Kuro Irons for under 700 bucks and TourSpec Golf is around a thousand.

Yep. I think you can order the 4 iron for not much more either. I actually ordered mine through tour spec but only because they did the 25 percent coupon and the system 25 shafts were a free upgrade. That is a great deal you found there and if they allow you to do PayPal transactions than I would take advantage of it. Allows even more peace of mind. Just note that the email response will take a day or two because of the time difference. If you've hit Onoff irons before than you know the quality is there. Not many irons out there can compare to the forgiveness and softness in forged cavity backs.

Do these irons have a little leading edge relief or is it sharp? I haven't been able to tell from all the pictures I've seen. Thanks for your great post. I'm very interested in these irons.

There's definitely a leading edge. The sole is made for versatility in all conditions. Here's a couple pics of the 7 iron sole.
