FWIW, only A-holes actually "care" about someone's education status. Especially when it comes to hanging out, and playing golf. Maybe not when looking for a heart surgeon.

The fact that no one actually seems to know what anyone's education status is should be first indication that no one actually cares.

When I first moved to DC I lived in Shirlington for 3 years. And not hipster-2016 Shirlington, mid 90s ghetto Shirlington.

 

Side discussion. I remember those days, because I used to live by the Landmark Mall and then moved to the S. Glebe & Quaker Ln area. Hung out at Bungalow Billiards a bit. Shirlington is a lot different now.

 

Boom. Me too. Lived on VanDorn at Seminary twice -- once as a renter and once in my first home (condo). Not sure I'd say Shirlington was "ghetto", Carlysle was there in '95, but it certainly wasnt yuppified.

 

I lived on Four Mile Run between Walter Reed and Columbia - across from the DMV. It was as described.

 

To be fair I guess most people still considering Shirlington to be that one main stretch of shops.

 

I do miss Washington Golf Center though.

 

Oh, yes, that was a bit sketchy over there. I was thinking of Shirlington proper. You're right.

 

WGC was convenient, but the people that worked there make the gang at Golfsmith seem like phDs. Particularly their "clubmaker".

 

Hahaha, I think thats actually when I decided to learn to regrip my own clubs - when it took 2 weeks to get a set of wedges regripped in his little "shop".

Graduated in 84, no college, partied my a** off in Chincoteague during the summer then partied my a** off in Ft.Myers during the winter.Moved back here in 89 bought a townhouse in 96 then bought a single family in 04 with no help from family.Now married to a professor of nursing.

This makes me sad. I wanted to play an event this year and that was the one I targeted since it is close to my birthday. But my wife springs a trip to the Deep Creek area this weekend so I can hang with the in-laws and in-in-laws. F!!!!!!!!!!!!

False advertisting, that is a picture of the Norman course. Had much fun playing there in the fall. Had usually played RTJ but I liked that Norman didnt go as close to the buildings/roads and you could sort of squint and see the river.

Ya, I was gonna say. That's the 18th hole of the Norman course. It's burned in my head because 1) I played my worst round of my life there and probably shot 120 if I kept score, and 2) CityGame urinated just outside the frame of that pic, right next to the 18th hole instead of waiting to get back to the clubhouse. Classic CityGame Urination Strategy.

#18 there is interesting, especially the 2nd shot which is tough to see the landing area. Somewhat visually intimidating for a 2nd shot. Into the wind makes it a really tough 3rd with hazard just in front/right of green....not that I know anything about it or losing the tournament there or anything...really don't know.

 

I do like the course much better than the Norman.

 

Am I thinking about Norman #18? Totally confused now...story of my life lately.
