Question for the CLASS: Are y'all just posting scores for shiggles out of season or what? I know the VA guys season doesn't end but MD does... just a general question because I haven't and others have--- don't want to be that guy..

 

I made a gametime decision to sneak out to Blue Mash after the DC temp read 36. It was a bit colder in Olney. Paid $35 to walk but didn't get out until nearly 11 due to a frost delay. Staff was pretty cool about it and let us all hit on the simulator while we waited

 

There were two foursomes behind me so they started me on two and I played in about 2:40. I could have played quicker but played 2 balls on a couple holes. I hit enough good shots to feel slightly better about my game. Shot an 88 from the blue-ish tees. Not awful for me but not, ya know, good. They only had the white tees in so I just played from the normal blue yardage markers on each tee box with one or two exceptions where they are fixing tee boxes. Wind picked up noticeably on the back 9. The water tried to steal a K-Sig from me when I tried to let the wind push it back into the green from 215 out on #12. But I left it too far right and it hit the bank and took two slo-mo hops down the slope and into the water. f*** that. Used the pitching wedge to break the ice and snag it back. Couldn't get up and down from 10ft to save par though.. (I lost it on 15 when I pulled it badly into the woods)

 

What was initially supposed to be a foursome behind me ended up losing a guy due to the delay and then another at the turn. They finished about 2 1/2 holes back of me. The second foursome was finishing 11 when I finished and that was adding in playing back up 9 after I finished 1. I don't know how you play a 5+ hour round on a wide open course in this weather in carts.

Went out for Valentine's Day with PQ yesterday.

 

I was fine on the front with 2 3-frutts, but a nice birdie on 3 and was 39 around the corner. But 3-putted 10, 13, 14, 16. Took a couple penalty strokes, had to play around some maintenance workers on one hole. But, buckled down and finished strong, so no worries.

 

Eagle. . .this is what the ball looked like when I finished the round at UMD. Yesterday I played with a Vice. I took it from the range bucket at UMD the other day (and replaced it with a ball of equal or greater value). I liked the Vice ball. Felt like all the rest of 'em.

It's not so much a hole as just some of the urethane scraped off.

 

I think that whole scuff was from one traumatic event, but I can't remember what specifically. . .could have been bladed from a trap, could have been a cart path. I just can't remember. I don't think I hit a path on Saturday when I played with it, though.

The only ball I've ever had durability issues with was the Callaway Hex Soft. They advertise it as "soft" so whatever, but I've cut one of those by hitting half a groove low.

 

The K-Sig's have proved sufficiently durable, by which I mean "I typically lose it before I destroy it".

 

The scuff in the K-Sig is just a run of the mill scuff.

The Golf IQ article on the front page this morning is an interesting read. While I agree with the author that better golfers almost always have higher golfing IQ's, I don't know if this test he developed is going to give me better situational awareness out on the course. I think that only comes from playing more competitive golf.
