Any suggestions on a cheap counterbalanced shaft for fairway wood? Not trying to spend a ton so the cheaper the better. My quest for a fairway continues so I might as well and put a shaft on a 3w head that I like.

why counterbalanced? primary purpose: off the deck or off the tee?

based on my limited knowledge of golf equipment, you need a butt firm, mid strong, tip firm shaft. and an oversized 3+ head. maybe some kind of 3-deep or mini?

Here's a quick clip of some of the guys finishing up at NW yesterday while there was a First Tee class going on. Although I lol'd that they couldn't be bothered to even walk around the practice green to get back to the clubhouse.

Nick Meija is a high school kid I played a few rounds with at Waverly. I can't believe he shot +1 at NW today. That's awesome. He seemed like a real nice kid. Delmar is in. Guy can strike the rock so well. He used to shoot 60-something during Friday games drinking beer the whole way through. People are really good at golf.

I just googled that kid from Waverly. I figured that was him.

I've had almost no interaction with him ever, but I've seen him out there practicing for 5 years now. Great swing. Always working on every aspect of his game. He's gotta be about 17, right?

There were 20 double bogies or worse on #3 at NW yesterday. That number really stood out to me. The next closest was #17 with 9 DB or worse.

I saw that.

If I had to guess, I bet it was into the wind and had a tough pin. That's a big number, and there's some tough pins on that green.

That's the toughest tee shot on the golf course, especially from the back tees. I bet those DB or worse are mostly tee balls into the woods left.

Yeah all the way in the back creates a little bit of a chute too. Even with that big tree coming down - you don't have the angle to just fire over the hill like you do from the blue/white tees. If it was playing into the wind its probably 250+ carry up and over the ridge. If you leak it even a little right too - its complete death.

You can bet there were tough pins. Also, it was VERY windy, and it was a cold wind. Some of the pins at Wothington were hilarious. Right in ridges... Like 17. It was smack dab in the middle on that massive ridge. Two 3 putts in our group. I 2 putted, but only because I was off the fringe for my first putt.

18 was just over the ridge at the front center of the green. Every approach in our group hit the green and ended up in the rough. I failed to und it. The other two managed.

2 had the pin on the front just at the top of the ridge. I had 65 yards to the pin. Hit what I thought was a good SW. Hit by the hole and ended up at the back left of the green. I knew it was a different game starting then. We've been playing slow and/or soft greens. Anyhow, they do set it up difficult, and I'm sure more so for the USGA.

Good players. Nice guys. They shot 78 and 79. Dude with 79 chipped in twice... Both clanged the pin hard. He gave a fist pump and a f*** yes on the second one. Was funny.

Not as long as me. Stupid question.

Better putters than me... Yesterday.

Primary would be off the deck. Ever since I've become really comfortable with the driver, my use for a fw or even the deuce banger has been reduced significantly. I'm not sure if the Kiyoshi White is counterbalanced, but I like the feel where the weight is more towards the grip, I guess it makes the club "feel" lighter is what I'm really going for. I'm looking for a sldr mini 14* with the stock non-tp shaft, but it's hard to find one in decent condition.

Thanks JT for the suggestions, looks like the Axivcores and the Fubuki ZT would be the ones most in my budget.

Put a heavier grip or weighted butt plug in your current shaft. Cheaper and same effect. I suspect you'd opt for the butt plug.

Butt plugs are exponentially preferred.

I need to switch out the shaft on the Nike T60 if I dont find a SLDR Mini...it still has the stock Nike Speed step steel shaft so at 100-120g, it's a tad bit heavy. #wristgamenotonfleek

http://www.golfdigest.com/gallery/americas-100-greatest-public-courses-ranking?mbid=social_twitter

Golf Digest posted a new 100 best public courses in the US. Bulle Rock has fallen from 45 last time to 52. Probably something to do with the mounds of sand in the bunkers.

I've played 5 on the list, Bethpage Black, Bulle Rock, Princeville Prince Course, Pasatiempo, and the Blue Monster. I'll almost certainly play Chambers Bay one of these days when I go back to Seattle. Pinehurst courses too.

Holy crap. THat web page is so screwed up for me.

It keeps scrolling up when I try to scroll down. . .whether with the mouse, arrows, or pg dn. It scrolls for a while, then starts scrolling up.

If you get to bandon, you can wipe about 5 of the top 15 off your list.

Dormie Club is the highest rated course in pinehurst besides #2. That completely changes my opinion about Dormie Club. Must play on any trip to Pinehurst.

Much lol...

Dormie trending way down with TR trending way up (55 up from 71) - no surprise there. They say you should play Dormie before they revert to their business plan, what, treating your customers like complete a-holes, that's not working out for you? Hilarious.
