UPS Ground, USPS Priority, USPS Parcel

Normally I use USPS Priority as I rarely have a problem with shipments. HOwever if a Canadian buyer is willing to pay for UPS Worldwide Expedited shipping instead of USPS Express International Mail, it usually will get there next day. Last 2 shipments, left my office in SW Missouri around 3 PM and arrived in Calgary early next afternoon.

USPS Priority does some funny things though, my packages usually arrives to San Francisco area in a day but for few midwest states, it takes 3 days.

When I ship: USPS Priority

When I buy: sellers that ship USPS Priority get extra consideration since I can expect to receive shipment in 2-3 days (CONUS) including Saturday.

USPS priority all the way. It's irritating when someone uses parcel post To save $1 or often less. I shipped a staff bag last week priority for $17.

You must have shipped across the street. I've shipped 2 staff bags before and cost me no less than $40 each time. And I had to go UPS ground bcuz Priority was way more expensive. What's your secret?

I agree $17 to ship a staff bag Priority sounds cheap. But what do I know. I always shipped my staff bags UPS ground because I heard for something like that UPS ground was better. With that being said, it never cost me more then $25 to ship a staff bag UPS ground. I admitt the last bag I shipped was last yr. WOW $40 is a big jump. I would crap........

No secret...good clerk and good communication. Ask questions, ask for their suggestions. Pittsburgh to NY isn't across the street.

I'd love to know what weight and box size you used. I just did a USPS online shipping quote for a package shipped from (let's say...) Pittsburgh 15122 to NY 10024 with box size 36 x 16 x 16 and weight of 13lbs (box and weight typical of a staff bag package) and here's what the quote is...

Priority Mail® $25.95 store price $23.49 Online price

Parcel Post® $15.30 store price N/A Online price

You sure you didn't ship parcel post? Not trying to put you down. I just want to find out if there is a cheaper option to shipping large golf bags that I don't know about. And Pittsburgh to NY is pretty much across the street. If you shipped to CA, then Priority for the same package is $89.90!

Box was tight...and it was previously used, so it was soft. Clerk pulled the tape tight and probably gave me a good deal. I shipped multiple things that day and I'm there all the time.
Maybe I got a break that day, I don't know nor care.

Cost wise, ive always gone with the rule that heavy packages should go Fedex/UPS, and lighter weight packages should go USPS. A few days ago I shipped a single iron to Ping. USPS Priority was $7.50; Fedex Ground was $7.98. CA to AZ was 2 day delivery with Fedex Ground, so I went that route for the tracking and the $100 included insurance. I like USPS as much as the next guy, but theyve got the most useless tracking system possible.
