I'm old enough to remember how comfortable it was to play in pants that didn't fit like shrink wrap that hung below our butt cracks. The total length of modern pants now from the clasp or button to the crotch is now 3.875 inches. The pants makers are saving so much money on material, convincing people that tight, butt-crack things are "stylish," while charging us for real pants. I'm tired of being squished and squeezed.

It was so nice to play in pants like this:

And this:

And this:

And this:

And this:

Now, everything looks and feels like this:

It isn't fun to play in things like this. I want real pants!!

In them days trousers came in chest sizes not waist sizes!

Richard,

I have always appreciated your outlook and posts on GolfWRX. I am coming up on some decisions to make in my career as a golf professional and was wondering if I could call you and ask you a few questions. Thank you for always adding to our golf discussions!

Sincerely,

Dan Drake
Hey Bro, absolutely. I am unable to get into my message box and I am sorry if you have left a message. It's been like this since I started really posting here in Jan/Feb of '14.

My e-mail is rpjii at me dot com.

Feel free to call me anytime. If you get the VM, I'll get back at ya shortly as a lot of my day is spent in IVs and they have a "no talk" rule regarding phones.

Have a great day :)

My Best,
Richard

I've always worn khakis, since a boy. But in the 1970's, I wore Haband "executive" pants for golf. Usually about $10 a pair, I actually thought they were good pants. I recall ashes from a tobacco pipe making silver dollar sized holes in them.

Since the Dockers khaki craze came in the 1980's, I've worn khakis exclusively, However, one gets nostalgic for the past. A couple years ago, I was on the Haband website, and foolishly ordered two pairs of their current "executive" slacks, one in grey, other in tan.

Getting them a week later, they seem identical to the stuff 40 years ago. Trying the grey pair on, I couldn't even button them, the tan pair was a couple sizes too big. Shipping charge back was $7 or so, so return was not an option. Buyer beware. On top of it all, with my order, I was automatically enrolled in some sort of rewards program which only charged $1.99 for the first month, $14.99 per month after that. I called their hot line to cancel, they even refunded the $1.99. So no complaints from me. Imagine all the older folks that don't monitor their affairs well. A lot of complaints ( about hundreds in charges before discovered) if one wants to take the time to read them.

Anyhow, I gave the tight pair to charity, and still have the oversize pair. I wore them once this year, as a blast to the past.. They actually look pretty good, mimics a tropical wool dress pants. Awful, though, the plastic material holds in heat. Getting a ball out your pocket is a chore, the whole cheesecloth pocket pulls out and spills the rest of the contents.

I'm keeping the pants just for the nostalgia. I don't ever want another pair.

PS: This afternoon, I looked for my Habands in my closet, realizing that I have them in my emergency bag that I keep in my car. Pants, shirt, underwear, socks, Advil, Excedrin, and Tums, and a roll of TP. So, the Habands are doing their duty, in case of emergency. Earlier this year, my pants zipper broke at the golf course. No problem, just changed pants.

Looked on the Sansabelt website. Those pants are really nice, they'll even sew belt loops on. But at $79 and $85 respectively, I'm just too cheap to buy them impulsively. Mr. Soloman jogged my memory to a pair of pants I bought last year. A pair of "premium" khakis at Kohls. marked down to $12, from MSRP $58 (yeah, sure). One problem, they were size 44, and I'm the guy that wears a loose 40, but buys the 42.

I couldn't pass them up, (said I was a cheapskate) and bought them. Entirely too big, I've been trying to shrink them by washing them repeatedly and drying them on hot. Still look like new, after multiple abusive cycles. They're still a bit big, though. I'm 6' 3" and they make me look like Lou Costello.

Those Sansabelts have my name on them. Might have to pull the plug on a pair.

Take the measurements. Pick the fabrics you want, and the features. Button fly sure? Suspender buttons, sure. 2" cuffs, sure. No cuffs, no problem. If even your most favoritist pents aren't ideal- Send them your most favoritist pents and have them take the measurements while you tell them what you want changed. Slightly narrower leg? Giddy-up. Wider leg, just as good. Want a high rise? knock yourself out. Spring fabrics- check. Summer fabrics- check. Fall fabrics- check. Winter fabrics- check. Knock yourself out. Have old school pents made until your cold, modern pents hating heart is warmed. http://custom.luxire...nt-measurements Here is a thread from another forum with all sorts of reviews and pictures and everything you could imagine. http://www.styleforu...ffiliate-thread if you don't care for those options- try some e-thrifting. Older offerings from some of the higher end makers tend to have a wider leg and higher rise and can be had for a bargain.
Wow. This is AWESOME. I wish I had known about this a while back.... Consider that link bookmarked!
I've used Luxire before on a few of my gingham/flannel/casual shirts. I've sent in shirts that I've had done bespoke by a tailor and they've matched them precisely. Saves me about $30-$50 a shirt. For the "made to measure" shops, they are probably the best. Way better and a higher quality than an Indochino.

Great topic! Thanks to being incredibly fortunate in the genetics department, I still can buy pants in the size 30/31/32" waist size (at 6' tall), depending on manufacturer and style. When I buy jeans, however, I ALWAYS have to purchase something in either the "relaxed" or even "loose" fit. Anything outside of those fits, and I'm feeling a vise-like sensation, explicitly illustrated by this Duluth Trading Company commercial...

Today's materials are much better and I bet Hogan or even Venturi would've loved not sweltering with draperies on their legs back then. If you like the look of Fred Mertz, enjoy. I like today's styling. Although I do like the retro look to a point.

Shoes have gotten uglier every year though.

Well, I spoke with Danno today(Dan Drake)-

Incredibly Classy Gent!!

The PGA of America got a good one in Dan and the Club that lands him is gonna be fortunate as hell!!

It was an extremely enjoyable 90 minutes, lol

We covered the gamut, solved a few world problems and agreed on Ben's secret, lol(I'm kidding)

Nah, he's a Gem on the board and better on the phone!!

I hope that I have the privilege of sharing a tee with ya some day Bro :)

Stay Well My Friend,
Richard
LMAO, Bro, I just spit my juice out, lmao

THIS is one of the funniest posts I've read on the board, lol

I see you're from the Burgh-

A man who's 6'3", goes by Wriggles and tries to shrink Khakis from Kohl's, LMAO

Bro, we gotta meet, lol

You just might be crazier than me, lmao

Have a great evening :)

My Best,
RP
