Ust recoil 760 es or 95 in regular?

Have to go to graphite, one elbow surgery on left need another on right. Made it thru last year year with mizuno 850 with xp 105 regular and prosoft, inserts and utx grips but need more. I tried the 95 recoil a couple years ago for a few rounfs but at the time i was playing 117 gam steel shafts and i messs up my swing.

I can built whatever or buy whatever, but I can get A good deal on Callaway clubs.

Callaway fitting carts dont have recoil 95, they have 660 or the new 760 es.

The 660/760 es are around 70 grams, the recoil 95 are Around 90 grams and my xp 105 is 100.

Been tryng the xr and apex, finally settled on the apex.

For me shaft weight is the the most important variable in club fitting, too light i cant control and too heavy no distance.

Im an agressive swinger but at 64 the body just will not take it anymore.

So i hit the 760 es which is better for me than than 660 with about 10-15 yards more than the 850 xp105.

Its a pull draw verses slight draw with steel. Should i just learn to aim a little right?

love the apex cf16, took me a few trips to get used to smaller head versus my 850 but like it.

Given my specifics which would you pick and why?

No concrete recommendations ,other than suggest you to make the extra effort to find and test the 95 gram recoil, the principle reason being, the use of aggressive to describe your swing.

The slight pull / pull draw might be a dynamic lie issue or simply a result of over releasing the lighter shafted club, you shouldn't have to play for it, just isolate the cause (heavier shaft / firmer shaft/ flatter lie angle) and correct it,

Edit. There is always the possibility of a swing issue (path in this case)

Made the effort, went to every place in northern ohio that fits clubs with a Callawy cart, not stocked in the cart.

I tried the flat 1 and flat 2 head not much difference, so its the weight.

I could order a club or each and try it or roll the dice.

If you can ignore the shock issue and the feel at impact just for testing purposes, it might be helpful to compare the 760's against a steel shaft of similar weight to the 95's in the fitting cart (maybe the XP95, KBS Tour 90 or Tour V90). Not ideal but it might give you the answer to which weight is a better fit or tell you how the swing speed might

As DaveMac mentioned, it's not easy to give specific recommendations w/o you testing the shaft in question but another possibility for the pull miss is that the shaft is still a little too light and resulting in a little 'over-the-top' move. With an aggressive transition and the fact that the xp105's is your current shaft (with no indication that you have any issues with them other than the material), and the fact that you had previous issues with dropping the weight too much all at once, I have a feeling that the 95's might be a better fit with respect to weight and thus consistency and accuracy of the swing, but may or may not still cost you a few yards. Also, the 95's could feel a bit firmer than the 760's and no way to tell how that might impact the results (if at all).

And yes, buying a single iron with the 95's might be the safest route. And since you are dealing with a custom order, I don't think it would change the cost at all if you ordered one iron first, then ordered the rest of the set later.

Last winter I did a build build with Recoil 670 F3. The 6 iron shaft when trimmed to playing length was exactly 70 grams. Did a flighted ,

extra tipping progression thru the set. Ended up with a great feeling

set, but my contact was erratic, my misses left with a big draw.

Saved the build by using Sensicore inserts wrapped with 10 grams of

lead tape around the straw. I shoved the insets in far enough to increase swing weight a couple points.

The combination of extra weight , higher swing weight made a huge difference. Consistent contact, workable every direction.

So if you really like 760 ES there is the option of ordering with grips in the box. Modifying weight to your liking later.

PS. I play the Recoil 95 F3 in my current gamers, they are noticeably firmer feeling than the 670 F3.

I have the 780ES F4 (almost 20g heavier than the 760 model) and I'm coming from S300s. It should be in the fitting cart. Worth a try?

I'm your age. Driver swing speed is right at 100 mph. I have cf16's with Recoil 95's hard stepped once. They are perfect for me. The 95's just have a more solid feel than the other shafts you mentioned. Previous graphite iron shafts either felt flimsy or if they were heavy enough to keep club head feel then they felt dead. The Recoil 95's seem to have over come these short comings. Added is that Callaway has no up charge for Recoil 95's over the standard charge for graphite shafts.

Naw, I hit them and the 95 is still too light. Search continues.
