6 over 78 today with the Yellow Gamer. One of my wedge shots spun back five feet on a 110 yd shot. I could play these for the rest of the summer.

 

Finally got around to trying the Gamer Soft. It's a keeper, one of the better performers from green to tee that I have tried.

 

Super deal on those D2 Feel!! May have to hoard a few more boxes! Pennies for a great performing ball.

I prefer the gamer soft for a better feel and appropriate for my slower swing speed.

DSG has prior generation top flites currently at $7.98 per dzn (or 15 pack if you go with the D2 line). Just ordered a few more regular gamer dzn (sadly it's the generation before the yellow and the tour are store pick up only and the closest was over 100 miles away from me).

I made this topic back in april and I'm still gaming tf only, and still really happy with them.

 

Today on the front i had 15 putts with the d2 distance, switched to tm superdeep at the turn just for giggles.. Had 23 putts on the back :/

I was on vacation and played a few rounds...

 

Bridgestone E6. 84 Was striping full shots. Had trouble getting the feel for putting distance. Could have been my eyes tricking me on mountain greens, but the ball didn't feel right off the putter.

 

Top Flite Gamer Soft. 80. Should have broke 80. Ball performed great. Left a lot of putts a little short and messed up a couple bunker shots.

 

Top Flite Gamer yellow. 79. Could have gone low that day. Had eagle 2 from 80 yards. Ball felt great putting but still had too many putts. Practiced after the round and realized I was not staying down through the stroke.

 

Top Flite D2 Feel. 88. Started the day with a 3 putt pin high from 10 feet. (tricky putt, huge break) Then missed 6 footer for par save on #2. 3 putt on 6 for a double on reachable par five. Lost the D2 (or the ladies picked it up) on #10. Switched to other balls and lost 2 more. Really annoying golf day. :-(

 

Callaway X2 Hot+/Taylor Made Burner 78. I didn't think I liked the hard, clicky feel of this ball putting but one putt the first 2 greens. Proceeded to hit in the woods right of third green then put the Taylor Made into play. (Played as a water hazard penaly then holed chip for par) Still had a couple 3 putts and a couple goofy chips but nothing worse than bogey. Came real close to a few birdies and finally made one on 17.

 

It probably doesn't matter which ball as much as good putting, keeping it in play, and avoiding goofy greenside play.

Try the Gamer Soft and Gamer Tour too. I've been playing the Gamer Soft and have been getting the longest drives ever with them. Have 2 new boxes of Gamer Tour I'm gonna try for more green side spin. I'm hoping The GT doesn't give up too much distance to the GS.

 

Are these better than Titliest SoLo at same price point???

The DSG near me had lots of D2 in all versions for 2@$25 for the 15 packs. They also had some Gamer Tours but I forget the price. With all the talk I have heard about the gamers if it wasn't for an over supply of balls I would have bought some.

Small update.. Played 18 today solely with the yellow d2 distance start to finish, ended up breaking my previous low score of 90 today with an 84.. And that really should have been a 80 without 2 boneheaded penalties and 2 lousy chips.

 

The distance is hands down my favorite ball right now, I'm extremely happy with my choice, the ball just flat out does everything so well.

So I re-teed with the yellow TF Gamer and also hit that over the fence OB right a little further up. Another donation to someones yard. 200 hundred yard par 3 with big trees on the left and OB all down the right. Architecturally flawed golf hole for sure. ;-)

The Gamer Soft is a much better ball than the DT SoLo regardless of price. The new DT TruSoft is an improvement but is not up to the 3 piece Gamer Soft.

I know this sounds ridiculous and I will be flamed mercilessly by the elitist fanboys, but imho the original d2 distance plays and feels exactly the same as the ProV1X except for bite on approaches and short game. I have always been a tour ball only player, but I used to play the d2 exclusively for about a year. I loved the solid feel off driver amd irons, and got enough bite for most of the courses I regularly play. I was majorly pissed when they stopped making them, the Freak that replaced it was a major disappointment. Another example of an OEM fixing something that wasn't broken.

I haven't played TF simce, but if there is a current ball like the original d2 distamce I'd love to know.

Lack of durability reviews are the only reason I may not grab the gamer tours. If the new ones are improved, I may spring for them then.
