Best rangefinder for shaky hands

I borrowed my friends Bushnell Tour V2 to see if I would benefit from a rangefinder. I can't get a yardage to the flag! I either get a range of readings for example 85 to 120, or I get 350 which I am guessing is to a tree somewhere behind the green. I am assuming that the issue is my shakiness. Is there a rangefinder that would get the yardage easier?

Try the tour v3 with jolt. I have shaky hands and had a Bushnell 1500 that gave me fits if the flags didn't have a prism. With the V3, I have zero issues getting the flag nearly instantly.

Anchor the rangefinder to the bridge of your nose. Helps me get great readings. Not the only anchoring that can help shaky hands!

I think the Laser Link ones are good because you don't have to hold them directly against your eye.

 

The Pistol grip is great on the Switch. And for courses with reflectors, it's super easy.

Did you borrow the laser for a full round of golf or simply ask to use it for a couple readings? I would think improving your technique would be the best fix as all lasers are pretty much dependent on a somewhat steady hand.

Just posted this info in another thread, but the Nikon CoolShot rangefinders use a nearest target prioritization scan mode that eliminates the need to aim the laser directly at the flag. You just sweep back and forth across the flag and as long as it's the nearest object, you've got your yardage. Shaky hands should not be an issue as long as you can at least hit the flag once or twice in the 8 second scanning window.

Try and steady it against the golf cart roof frame, the vertical bars, it will help.

I've got the Z6 with Jolt. It's relatively small, so that aspect won't be ideal for shaky hands. But the Jolt is great. I got into a bad habit with my previous RF of shooting the flag multiple times to be sure I was getting the right reading, but the Jolt really does let you know that you got the right reading that time. No need to recheck the yardage.

The Z6 picks up the pin pretty quickly even if I'm shakey using one hand.

Is a rangefinder a must have for you? Seems like a GPS device (iphone app, apple watch, gps equipped watches) would be as beneficial. I have an apple watch which runs off my iphone, and I havent had any issues with it as far as accuracy is concerned.

I'd suggest the biggest bushnell, the one held horizontally like binoculars (1M or x7 is the current)... it's also got the most mag, which won't help tho. best to go to a big box and try out all the different styles

I ended up buying the Bushnell V3 Slope and after the first round have had no problems picking up my target. Every once in a while I pick up a tree in the background, but take another try at it and I get the flag. Love this rangefinder.

Mount a large diameter wooden dowel (about 4 inches long) with a threaded rod thru the middle of it and attach it into the tripod mount on the bottom of the V2. It helps steady the laser. I made something similar so I could hold my V2 in the umbrella holder on my clicgear. An unanticipated benefit of my homemade holder was it helped steady the laser when I was shooting a longer yardage.
