Tyson Lamb Putters & Crafts

Recommended Posts

Sent an email in Feb 2017, actually got a quick response from Tana telling me to email back in a couple weeks to put my order in...I emailed back in a couple weeks... haven't heard back yet. I am not going to chase. People who know him personally have even told me that they will tell him to get back to me but I have declined those offers. If they are that busy that they will turn down someone willing to pay for a premium product, then kudos to them. My money will spend just fine somewhere else.

I was watching a live feed when Tyson laughed and made a comment about how people think that he never returns emails... well, it's obviously true. If you are that busy then hire someone to handle incoming emails and orders if your two person system can't handle it all.

If you are letting $1,000+ orders fall through the cracks then most won't stick around for you to eventually grace them with your response.

Honestly, I am glad he is doing well and hope it lasts. would have been nice to order 2-3 putters for the cost of 1 009M.... but I ordered my custom 009M and got in within 5 weeks.

I told someone... its one of those..I wish I got an order in or knew about TL before it took off.

I have nothing but time to wait (don't want to) but it will eventually happen.

time is on our side except for when it isn't ;)

I can be pig-headed at times and I thought I was in at the right time but it seems I was late to the party. Between the excuses reasoning of the PGA Show and getting other orders in I was disheartened when my email placing the order went unanswered. Any other OEM would be blasted for this kind of customer treatment, why is he any different? Shoot, Lump from Xenon called me once and we talked for a good 30 minutes. There's guys who get business and guys whose ego's won't allow them to see the whole picture. But, you can't please everyone. I don't expect special treatment and that is why I refused people's help. We are talking about a putter, not getting in to see a specialist who can save my life. And to hear him take jabs on IG at what people think about his lack of communication tells me his ego speaks for his business.... and that is fine, scoff at people all you want but a (potential) customer remembers that and when asked I would, and do, point them to the direction of quite a few others before this guy.

He is on record saying he would make himself accessible to his customers and took a jab at Scotty for not being accessible. Personally, I have spoken to Scotty (albeit in a controlled environment at his gallery), Kari Lajosi, Lumpy and Byron (Byron I spoke with on multiple occasions).

I bought a few accessories from TL in a preemptive strike so I wouldn't get sold out of them but the last item was just sold and mailed out to someone who will appreciate it.

Can't take stuff with when you go either :swoon:

I'm treating his pieces like legacy pieces. Hopefully, my kiddo gets that golf bug (without pushing) so my low tide with her initial/logo in the sole will be hers. I hoping I get one of TL's putter along the same lines and that will be here eventually as well.

I met and talk to Tyson just one day but that's what sold me on his stuff (besides it being such high quality). The dude didn't have an ego at all.. he talked with passion about his putters and paid respect to others. I feel they are trying to figure out the right approach with a smaller operation than others.

As Raider pointed out, for every response Tyson sends out he gets one back. Imagine that times 400.. that is just Instagram.

I don't know Joey... beyond the Texan connection (damn proud people :) ) I just really enjoy meeting him and his "little" crew. Some great guys and conversations came out of just eating lunch and bsing.

That was my favorite part. I'm flying to Texas to play a couple rounds with some TL peeps.. met too many cool guys and golf nuts not too.

If I get through the process and it doesn't go anywhere maybe then but for now.. Im patient and have faith...

Almost every time I pull up his IG live feed he's milling a putter.

Where are all of those putters going? Asian market?

I have heard the same thing about Bettinardi. They can get way more money in the East Asian market. So I'm not sure how much they really care about the US market... Might explain why you can't get an e-mail returned.

i mean the bottom line Joey is he is very busy. and people offered to help you get through to a busy guy. if you dont want help from folks i dont think you have any right to complain if that makes any sense? when i wanted to get something special on a Scotty putter if someone had offered to help me out i would have jumped at the offer, not said ill just wait for it to happen organically. people, including myself, are trying to help you get a putter, however if you want to complain that Tyson didnt see your follow up email in the 9000 backlogged he has then thats your prerogative. i will just help the next guy that wants one instead.

what i love is how much of a bitching thread this is. its not like this for any other putter maker SC included. also its funny how its mostly SC loyalists complaining. i waited 3 years for a custom order from SC that never came. Mario waited 6 for one that never showed up. Eric has been waiting for close to a decade. it is what it is.

if anyone wants to get a putter and i can help let me know. if you really want one you will contact me or someone close to Tyson. so if me or one of my buddies dont get a message and i hear you complain im going to call you out on it. use people as resources. thats what business is all about.

I mean jeez dude. Dave Edel is a pretty accessible guy also. But if his buddy could get me some 1 on 1 time I would take it. I mean we have already put out an open invite to play golf with people at the PGA show this year. It doesn't get much more 1 on 1 then that. I'm sure if you want a stick you can ask him in person thee. I'm just confused whether you like the brand or not. If you dislike the brand can't folks just make a "let's bash Tyson lamb thread" where it can be all negative all the time? I feel it would be more productive. I'm just trying to help people out. If folks want to try it the current way be my guest. But I have talked with Tyson and I have gotten people sticks made before. So take it or leave it. I feel like your just kind of bitching a bit. But maybe I'm wrong and I'm misreading things. I call it like I see it. When Tyson's messes up I call him out. If I mess up call me out. Accountability is a good trait. But nevermind me. Complain away........

Longball at the PGA show Tyson made his schedule for shows this year. His commitments. Should he abandon those to help guysmlike you who don't actually want anything?

Do you own any of Tyson's products? Have you ever been around any first hand? Do you have any desire for either situation mentioned previously? If the answer is no then just move on sir.

Longball..

Come on man. No need to troll. It's been a very good open discussion, so let's keep that way

So, I am trolling if I ask a legitimate question? A question that would promote openness and maybe help explain the long wait times/no message response?

It's not the question but how it was asked.

It came off condescending, imo and obviously Raider took it that way.

Just don't want this thread to be ruin by either side of the argument resorting to that level.

The same question has been answered to the best of a person close to the inside and some opinions on the outside.

No one can speak for TL but you have some that are trying. Not everyone will agree on this or that but this is what makes WRX great. So many various opinions that typically stay friendly. Just want to keep it that way.

I just want to talk about putters and stuff. I don't want to defend a guy who is building a business. I just want to talk product. Make a bitching thread if that's all you want to do.

I wanted a putter. One response from Tana and then crickets. So, no I haven't bought any of his products. I saw his putters at the PGA Show. Tyson was not at the TR booth when I was there.

I am a club ho like the rest on here and love talking putters. Just asking questions about a company that is a bit mysterious to me.

Every craftsman has an inner circle with whom he shares ideas or products with and takes their feedback to hopefully produce even better products. The folks not in the inner circle will always be frustrated when seeing new products displayed by the inner circle. I've been into Cameron's and for some pretty cool stuff done out of his kindness and took a lashing from his fanboys on why I got something they hadn't been offered. I've been into bettinardi and got some cool stuff and waited 5 years for a custom to finally come around. I hope Tyson's plan to make 1 piece putters works out because it will increase his production. Guys will just have to accept the fact though that the putter will most likely have a twin. I made a recommendation for a demo program where they charge you so much until putter is returned and then refund your charge. True putter enthusiasts just want to get their hands on his putters to see for themselves if the hype is true. I wish him the best of luck and maybe someday I will be in the right spot to acquire a putter of his and form my own opinion on performance and craftsmanship but until then I will remain open minded and appreciate the comments from the people that own his putter(s).

Thanks for your input Raiders. As mws82 said, sometimes being considered inner circle puts you in a tough spot.

If I run into anybody on the course, you see me on the course, don't hesitate to ask to try out my Lamb putter. I know Raiders would do the same as I saw him so generously offer to allow a complete stranger the use of one of his putters for a round at the DC event.

I'm a fan of Lamb's products and was quite fortunate to have gotten a putter. I was deep in the SC world for a long time and was disenchanted. Something about the small business, anti-big shop, "i'm gonna do it my way" kinda mentality really appeals to me. Sure, it's tough to get answers / responses but it's not like they're not trying. I've seen Tana working the FB page trying to hook up new customers for accessories. I have no idea how to run a business and won't even begin to provide any suggestions. I'm sure Tyson knows people in the golf business / regular business world who have been / will be giving him some input. I guess we'll just have to see how he makes it all come together.

Meanwhile, "back at the ranch" bottom line for me is his putters are very nice but let's face it only time will tell if he will be one of the biggest kids on the block like Scotty. For me I can't spend $1500 +++ on a putter that may or may not hold it's value when I can get a Byron, Mills, MannKrafted, Piretti etc. for 1/3 the cost and be very happy with the service and the putter.

Just my 2 cents!

Happy to see those art classes are paying off for you. Don't know what a truck dumping a pile of sh*t represents. Is that going on the new birdie paradise hats or towels?

Sike! That's the wrong number!

I'm honestly just shocked you capitalized the first words of those sentences. Glad to see 1st grade is paying off.

Let me know if you're ever in Houston, we'll tee it up. Or in California, we'll call up PJ.

I don't know what number you're talking about.

Thanks for the education recognition.

I will be in Dallas next month for Tyson's open invite event. You should swing through and play some golf with us. You're more then welcome. I don't know who PJ is sir but we can have him come play also. Hope you're doing well John. Nice catching up.
