I love it. The driver is tricky. I have also been teaching it as well. It is easy to learn. I am impressed with the simple ideas of staying centered. I have found center ball position is the key. With the driver i went one ball in front of my spine. The spine is the key. What i am teaching is center for shots off of the ground one ball or inch forward for Tee shots (driver). My first touney of the year was successful, so I am sticking with it for me and my students.

Hope this helps, Kells

It is awesome!!!!! I have been doing this for a while and it is easy to hit the ball solid.

And with the shorter swing the control is there as well.

Real simple and it has been a great help to my game.

I, too, have been using this for the last three weeks or so and have never hit the ball as consistently solid. The driver is still coming around and one must take care to not become too steep with their swing. Now, if I could only find the equivalent answer to my short game woes I would be all set!

Today, I used the Stack and Tilt swing idea of keeping my weight on my left foot (side) during backswing. I had been having lots of problems with hitting behind the ball and weak high shots to the right. Result: I had one of my better ball striking days in awhile with irons. Most of all, I was not hitting them as fat. I even used it with my driver and can report that it kept me left on a lower trajectory. Ball position off left big toe might need to be adjusted.

Only thing I have to watch for gettting too steep. Which I am inclined to do. I must try to keep the club from being lifted higher in backswing.

Very pleased, though its my first time out with it.

I don't know about new, I have been swinging this way for over 20 years now.

I never got completely comfortable putting EXACTLY the same move on the driver, but I still use a variation of it, especially when I am trying to move it left to right.

Oce you get it down, it's a great way to compress your irons, and control your ball flight.

I am thinking about a total rebuild of my swing as I've been in a slump for the past 2 months which is very odd for me. It seems the stack and tilt swing are gaining some momentum on the tour so I am thinking about trying it out. Just want to get some response from any one experimenting or using it.

I just have to chime in about all these people who have tried this swing for just a 2 or 3 weeks. I mean, c'mon, it takes months to do a major swing change, and most likely you're reverting back to your old swing 90% of the way. I don't think you can make an assessment of a complete new swing theory on a couple of weeks and a handful of rounds.

Anyway, my 2 cents.

I don't think that's necessarily true. The fundamental idea of keeping more weight on your left foot through impact is relatively easy to implement, and the results are pretty dramatic. I tried this for the first time when I went to the range last week, and I too can report noticeably more solid contact, a lower ball flight, and increased distance. For me, it's amazing how much it helps prevent flipping, thereby allowing me to properly trap the ball.

It's been a little over a week now since I began switching to the Stack and Tilt and I honostly believe this method is here to stay. I have find the transition to be fairly easy. I am sure I haven't gone back to my old swing since I 've taped every practice session and looked at it. Liked I've stated in my last post, the stack and tilt and the more conventional swings have the same fundamentals so it really wasn't all that difficult to learn at all. So go on and try it for yourself.

  • 2 weeks later...

Try this link from the bennett and plummer thread: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?sh...st&p=623101 It includes a link to youtube showing a guy hitting with s&t. In fact, that whole thread is worth a read if you want to get into it a little more.

Also, you can also visit geoff shackelford's blog for a huge thread on folks using stack and tilt: http://www.geoffshackelford.com/homepage/2...k-and-tilt.html and some of the swing thoughts that have helped them.

I don't know of any DVDs or instructional videos out there.

Good luck.

My cleek is sometimes peevish.

You swing the club around an axis of rotation. There is a backswing (loading) and a forward swing (releasing). There are quite a few effective ways to communicate and teach the swing. It's a matter of finding one the works best for you.

Every swing as an axis of rotation...how would you explain this stack and tilt method to someone??
