Taylormade Tour Preferred EF Wedge

What does everyone think of these? I have always used taylormade irons and love them but never used their wedges. Have used Cleveland wedges and looking for something new.

I have had them since they came out and have found them to perform as good as anything out there. I went through two sets of Vokey SM4s before need new wedges and going with the EF wedges.

 

The ATV grind on my 60 is super versatile all around the green and inside 50 yards. However I have never had success hitting 75-100% swings with the 60ATV. It never mattered to me much since I have always gone with my 56* wedge for fuller swings inside 100 yards.

 

They perform well, the grooves are near indestructible too. After over a year with them they still have 99% groove life and I play and practice 5 days a week. I got a set of Cally Mack daddy's and have been trying Them out for a couple weeks but I don't think I'll be sticking with them long term

Absolutely love mine - 50, 54 & 58 although the 58 has been replaced with a 60 PM Grind - wouldn't change them out for anything

I'd highly recommend these. I've had mine for about 6 months and they've been integral to helping me revamp my short game. Feel, spin and turf interaction are all top notch. The ATV is good, but I prefer the traditional bounce setup.

However, I'd wait until the spring since once TM comes out with their new Milled Grind wedges, you'll be able to get the EF for much cheaper.

Ef wedges are great I love mine. Very durable. Decent spin and feel. They are being replaced by RTX 3s however.

 

The only reason I'm replacing them is because i have the wrong bounce options and shafts.

 

And the RTX 3s were cheaper then new EFs.

What options are you moving towards? I am considering both but have swayed from RTX-3 to EF recently. Ordering next week.

My EFs had S300s and when I bought them I had a

50/9

54 ATV

58/10

 

I wanted to swap to a 3 wedge setup so I had the 50 and 54 bent to 52.

So I gamed the 54atv bent to 52 and the 58/10

 

Essentially all of my wedges had too much bounce for me and the aTv grind kinda got a little low but still playable. (the 50/9 bent to 52/11 was way too much) I wish their 58 came 58/8

 

Also needed diff shafts

 

So I'm going a

52/10 MG RTX 3 with C Taper S

58/6 LG RTX 3 with KBS 610 Wedge

 

I'm more of a sweeper and like opening the face on my short game.

Great wedge. I bought 3 of them at the beginning at last year off GlobalGolf. Bought them for almost half of what they retail in stores and came "mint" aka in plastic. I love the wedge but can't believe how much TM sells them for.

 

Worth keeping your eye out on there over the next several months for some good quality ones to show.

Just a note I find that the tour grind is very versatile and great. But plays with a bit more bounce then stated.

When I had a wedge fitting these things were right up there with the vokey wedge. Nice wedge.

What is the stock KBS shaft in these wedges? KBS tour or V? Is it a stiff flex?

Had the Mizuno Raw Haze for years until the grooves were really not good enough. Switched last year for Titleist SM5, pretty good, but the grind on the 58 doesn't fit my flop shot too well. Also the Tities are a good 3 yard shorter than my Mizies on full shots, even with the 52 replacing a Mizuno 53!

 

Had a try on the TM EF, they are really classic looking, put a ton of spin on the ball. The only thing is the face looks like it's been glued on the club head. Well I guess that's because it is glued on. At least they're cheap as chips on Ebay now so will give them a try in the bag.
