I was just curious to see what some of you other members had as your swingweights.

My swingweights for most of my clubs are D-3.

C9 to D1 on most irons and woods, but very heavy clubs (72-79g grips and tip weights).

 

Wedges are higher.

I like D3 for my irons and D3-D5 for my driver.

D4 right through, apart from the wedges which are D5.

At the moment they are E2 (1") over standard. My driver is a D6. Needless to say I like 'em heavy.

But I play with lead tape on clubs, so it changes a little from time to time.

Mine are MOI matched so the SW progresses from D2 in 4i to D5 in PW and D7-8 in wedges.

If you send your club into a golf clubmaker and ask them to make your SW heavier will they just add lead powder and a cork?

 

If you ask them to make your SW lighter what will they do?

 

 

I know that Miura and Mizuno have different head weights to get the SW you want but i'm curious as to what other companies do.

Irons are D6. Gap, Sand wedge are D8. Lob wedge is E0. Driver is E1, 3 wood is about the same. The hybrid from Taylor made I dont know but I use a 14 and a 12 as the weights in it. I like them to feel like they did long time ago. But I can drive a 16coated with one lick. If i hit it center. Thats a nail not a golf ball. lol

Hosel Port Weights to increase swingweight, Butt Weighting Plug to decrease swingweight.

tip weighting to make a few point heavier but weighting does nothing but fool the scale, to make lighter either grind head lighter shaft or shorten club to make big change heavier just the opposite

Tip weighting will not just fool the scale but it will make the head of the shaft feel heavier thus changing the SW, right? Butt weight of the shaft to make the shaft feel less head heavey which will also not just fool the scale but will also change the SW, right?

 

Do the weighting plugs change the feel of the iron head in any weight by making it muted to some extent?

Exactly.....if it fools the scale it's going to fool you, which is what you want, a lighter or heavier "feel".

 

My MP60's direct from Mizuno came with tip weights to get the swingweight just right. I don't feel any difference from the weights in terms of impact.
