He did talk about fanning the club open, but he talked about bowing his wrist too. He said something about Jimmy Demarit being the best at it. Hitting low balls with spin, by bowing the wrist. (delofting the club).

 

Yes he did. That was not in the context of supination.

I think after reading, the ideal position at impact is to have a bow/flat wrist. But the big question i have is; wouldn't be altering the address position, which has a slightly bent/cup wrist gripping with the clubface properly lined up? if bowing the left wrist at impact, it would most likely close the clubface or may be shift to the left (causing a hook!). so how to manage this?

It's because the bow isn't "bowed" perpindicular to the target line, but, on an angle to the target line......also, the hands are FORWARD at impact compared to where they started at address........go put a clubhead against the inside of a door jam with the leading edge flush against the door jam........then, without making any type of swing, simply "move" to an impact position so that you can almost snap the shaft in half......(you'll then FEEL what a "leveraged impact" feels like.....and it's a GREAT feeling)........when you do this you'll note that your "weight transfers" to your left leg, your hips/lower core opens up a bit.....your shoulder open up a bit, but, not quite as much.....your head should stay "still"/"quite"......your right foot will "roll" into/onto it's instep........your right knee will work towards the left knee/ball.......etc. etc...........

You can also swing quite a bit from the inside which will "stand up the shaft" considerably from it's address positon and this also can "bow" the wrist (and raise it too).......when you raise the arms "up" from a "normal" address position (not Moe Norman's ) the left wrist which would be cupped if you had a "normal grip" strength will now flatten "magically".......hehehe......

BTW, you can use this information to make "miracle" improvements in some players....... hehehe
