Are the top male golfers more attractive than the rest?

There is some evidence using data from the LPGA that "attractive golfers recorded lower than average scores and earn more prize money than average looking players, even when controlling for player experience and other variables related to their natural talents."

Nothing magical or un-speakaboutability about beauty. Beauty is logical. If you do a morph of a lot of faces you get a face that is considered beautiful. Why? Lack of defects. As well as the Golden Section can be found all over guys like Cindy Crawford and Pierce Brosnan. And you get a lot of cred and confidence from looking good(i had a few golden years around age 25). Most of the hockey, football and american rugby stars are deemed good-looking. The bad thing about beauty as I see it is trends and all kind of stupid ideals that pops up. But if you show a silhouette of a beautiful Norwegian person to people in Tchad, Burma, Japan and Paraguay there is research that shows that the faces are deemed beautiful everywhere. And ugly people are ugly everywhere. It's not fair but it's natural. Successful offspring is the name of the game. Natural selection, Origin of species and all that.

 

There is really just one thing in golf, you can get away with being obese, jumping is not part of the golf swing. And obeseness used to be attractive back in the noblesse days, but has not been for a long time now. If that's good or bad, who can say. The BMI is NOT a measure of well being. Studies say that people over BMI 25 might have a better health than us thin ones.

 

That said, I don't know if I find the top players in either PGA or LPGA overly attractive. Adam Scott. And maybe Fowler. No attractive blondies like me, since Shark, sadly. Some of the top South Korean ladies players are glamorous too, but not tennis star beautiful. But no question, Both in terms of TV time as well as being used for Promo activities, players like Creamer, Munoz, Recari and So Yeon Ryu get a lot of attention. Grace Park was the only really beautiful top ladies golf player that has been around.

 

But then again, yes, if you take away the ideal of BMI, most of the top players both for ladies and men are un-ugly. Even Rory looks ok now since someone told him that the scissors were invented. And sometimes he keeps his mouth shut when walking.
