How far is a MLB HR when equivocated to a tee shot in golf? Lots of variables for sure, but best guess....

Not real sure of the question. It's pretty easy to do the math between yards and feet. I would say hitting one to left or right field corners is equal to carrying 250 with a driver, as far as the strength required. As in a lot of adult male golfers could do it, but far from common. Hitting one 425 to dead center is akin to carrying it 325 with a driver. Very few can do either and those that can are 1%ers.

Judge as a 100% freak show. He might own all the records by the time he finishes. That said he's got a long road ahead. Long. Fraught with a bunch of stuff that can end it in a second.

Here are the dimensions to right, right center, center, left center and left field at Yankee stadium, and their yards conversion:

RF - 314ft = 104yds

RC - 385ft = 128yds

CF - 408ft = 136yds

LC - 399ft = 133yds

LF - 314ft = 104yds

So, depending on the stadium, you're looking at anything from a SW (or a smooth WRX LW) to a 9 iron or so. Distances are strange things aren't they? I can remember in HS standing on the goal line of the football field and 100 yards looked far as hell. On the course 100 yards looks like nothing.

Longest home run in a MLB game this year was 496 feet. Longest (measured) carry distance in a PGA Tour event was 344.9 yards (1,034.7 feet). So I would think .695 times the Home Run distance would be an OK starting point for carry distance. That would mean a 314 foot home run would only be equivalent to 218 yards carry distance which sounds small but many of them are line drives that might roll out to close to 300 yards. Some of them would just be bloopers that might roll out to 240 yards.

Longest measured drive with roll out on PGA tour event is 428 yards (1284 feet) so .863 times Home Run distance might be close enough for this conversation. However, there are obvious differences in that a golf ball is more susceptible to the wind and sometimes the landing zones are well below the tee and may have hills that help a ball roll out further.

Our think about the depth of a green about 30 yards, and that's a big play in the nfl. I mean, leading running backs have a 4.x yard per carry average!

Way too old for that to happen. Judge is a rookie, but he's actually older than Harper and just a few months younger than Trout.

Fully understood. If he continues on this pace (wouldn't have believed it possible until last night), its going to be a tremendous career. Old rookie. Young rookie. Doesn't matter. Let's see how this guy plays out. Huge anti yankee here, but this guy is special and beyond.
