4 Day Golf Trip Area Recommendations?

My group is planning to head to Florida this year for our annual trip but haven't decided on location. Planning to be down the first week of November but don't know what area would have a good concentration of nice courses. We definitely focus on the golf aspect and don't really care about the night life. One from our group is a PGA Professional that has traditionally been able to get us on some nice courses that aren't public, if that helps.

I'd recommend Tampa/ Streamsong.

What time of year are going down there?

If you go in the Fall, I would stay away from Tampa because a lot of rain (and lightning) really hits that area. Also, Streamsong is still about 90 minutes from Tampa.

Streamsong is definitely an option, but it's going to be pricey regardless if you have a pro with you or not.

I always think Orlando is a good option, particularly in the fall when the weather is usually perfect. And there are some good private courses there like Lake Nona, Isleworth, Orange Tree, etc. You'll need connections to get on those courses, but it would be worth it.

Another option I would look at is Ocala. Unfortunately, there's not much going on in Ocala, but you have some nice public courses in Juliette Falls (excellent), Stone Creek, Candler Hills and Royal Oaks. They also have some great private courses like Adena, Ocala CC and Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club (they hold a LPGA event there). You could also take a 1 hour trip to Brooksville to play World Woods and Southern Hills and a 45 minute trip to play Skyview at Terra Vista.

The last place I would consider is the Port St. Lucie/Vero Beach era. You have the PGA Village which has 3 excellent courses and there are numerous private clubs that you could probably get on that are very good. The area is very nice as well.

Black Diamond Ranch's courses are both worth playing multiple times on a trip, and they have houses on-site you can rent. Might be perfect for your group.

Thanks for the great information. We are planning first week of November. Our PGA Professional buddy spends half his year working in Florida and has put in a couple years at one of the extremely exclusive clubs so I'm selfishly hoping he can work some of his connections and gets us on to some of these courses.

Black Diamond Ranch is also about 45 minutes from Ocala. You could spend time in Brooksville at World Woods. Play World Woods Pine Barrens one day, play World Woods Royal Oaks the next day, get a day at Southern Hills and then a day at Black Diamond Ranch and have a helluva golf package. The only problem is if you want to stay in Brooksville.
