Where to eat in Bandon Town?

On our upcoming trip to Bandon Dunes, our group of six has a day at the Sheep Ranch so we thought that was a good day to have dinner in Bandon itself.

Can anyone suggest the best place to have a not-so-expensive meal there?

I gather the candidates are Edgewater, Lord Bennett, Alloro, Wheelhouse and the Fish market.

We just want to have good food, a few beers and a view.

Dining in Bandon is pretty depressing. Of the places you mentioned if view is your #1 criterion I would suggest Lord Bennett. It is south of downtown on a bluff. The view is spectacular but the food is "B" or "B-" at best, but still a nice meal.

 

I didn't like the Fish Market. For down and dirty cheap but delicious seafood in downtown Bandon, I suggest, Tony's Crab Shack.

 

If you really want to delve into the local Bandon golf experience, hit the Arcade Tavern downtown. That's where the Bandon caddies hang out.

Coos County eating choices are not that great. I'd recommend going into downtown Coos Bay, walk around a little and pick a spot on the fly. There really isn't much cost savings though.

+1 on Tony's Crab Shack. Easily the best meal from the last trip.

Went to the Arcadia Tavern for a few beers first then across the road to Tony's Crab Shack for a bowl of Clam Chowder. Just what you neeed after a hard day on the Sheep Ranch.

Going in December. McKees is closed due to remodeling. Anywhere deliver to the resort? Pizza maybe? Nobody in the group is excited to pay $30-40 to eat at the other places. We may have to draw straws to have a sober person drive the rest of us to Bandon.

I've heard nothing but good things about Denny's Pizza in Coquille. It's about 20 minutes from Bandon.

One place we like is the Rancho Viejo restaurant at 150 North Ave SE in Bandon. Pretty good mexican food at a cheap price. Big margaritas. Great chips and salsa.

 

Service can be slow. We don't go with large groups anymore. 4 people max and its OK.

There used to be an AMAZING restaurant called the Wild Rose in Bandon but unfortunately it closed. Was owned and run by a young couple that met in culinary school and were both chefs. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere.
