Eagles Crest, Redmond, OR

Heading to Eagles Crest resort during the week for 3 days/2 nights of stay and play with unlimited golf. I know there are nicer courses in the area- Sunriver, Pronghorn, Brasada, but this price is about 1/3 the rates of those resorts. Has anyone been and have any reviews/insight? Are we wasting our time playing there while surrounded by those other courses (we are playing Pronghorn our final day to end things with a bang).

My buddies and I did an annual trip to Eagle Crest (in July) for quite a number of years. The lodging rates were a bargain (not so much anymore), and we played each of their courses once per trip, just for convenience. But we spent most of our time on the other area courses.

I think the Resort Course is closed for the season, so that would leave the Ridge and Challenge courses.

Ridge is not a bad course, a good step up from a decent muni, and the Challenge is a fun executive course. Neither is even in the same league as the others you mentioned. I'd pay the 3x green fee to play the others all day long, especially this time of year.

Weather will be an issue. It could snow there at any time until about late April.

Sorry- I really should have been more specific. This will be May next year. Not too concerned about weather that time of year in Bend, but the rates we got were $250 a person for 2 nights, unlimited golf. Trying to determine if we are better off taking those or renting a house in Bend and then travelling around.

Ah, May will be much better there.

Part of the equation is if the deal is for a condo or in the Lodge. We always rented a 4-bdr condo and brought our own food/drink, then added golf packages for one day so we could have a day where we did no driving. Dining options at the resort are limited and just ok quality. There is nothing else in the way of services for a good 10 mile radius. Redmond has a couple excellent restaurants.

Still, $125 each per night with unlimited golf is not a bad deal. The courses are pretty good - not spectacular. Conditions may be better or worse, depending on how bad the winter has been. If you're after a pretty cheap weekend with some not-bad golf, you're probably going to be in the right place. Next steps up from EC, golf-wise, would be Juniper, Aspen Lakes and the Black Butte courses, all of which are within 15 miles.

I would check to see if Sunriver has a comparable deal going. They have done $75 per night incl golf in the past for a Spring promo. And Crosswater beats EC courses handily, and the other courses there are about the same quality as EC. It's a better resort, all around.

From there, you get into the more elite (and pricey) air of Brasada, Pronghorn and Tetherow.

We do a guys trip every year out there and do the stay and play deal. It's a bargain for how much we play (5 rounds in 3 days). Courses are fun for our format (rydercup style with Best ball and Scramble on first two days then individual matches the final day). Some holes are a little squirly, but for the most part we enjoy the courses.
