2nd Swing Experience

Had a great experience with 2nd Swing Overall but the Wilmington, DE branch specifically. Below is my official review for that location, I think they deserve a look if you haven't already. Below is my official review.

 

"From first walking in to the final delivery of my clubs, my experience at 2nd Swing Wilmington has been exceptional. Matt and his team went above and beyond to make sure I had the exact clubs I wanted and I could not be happier with them.

 

I did a full fitting at Club Champion but was not impressed with their upcharges so I went to 2nd Swing with my specs and with help in store was able to find the exact irons with the shafts I was fitted to in good condition for a much more reasonable price.

 

2nd swing then ordered them from their central location for me to see and test on their launch monitors before buying. After making sure the length, loft, lie, and grips were to my liking, swingweight had to be adjusted. Matt consulted club builders in order to find out the best way to add weight without lead tape which I requested not be used. When the materials on order turned out to take longer than expected, Matt sent out my clubs to his master builder and had them weighted free of charge, he even dropped them off at my house when they were finished!

 

All this with their 30 day play return policy backing it up and I can say that I'm 100% using 2nd swing for any future fitting, adjustment, and equipment purchases. Their customer service is unmatched and I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking to better their game and clubs."

Their prices on used clubs are too high. I don’t see how great service alone is going to pay the rent. There are better deals on eBay, the bst forum here and many of the other big box stores in the area as well as 3balls/GlobalGolf. They don’t have much of a selection on other Golf products (apparel, shoes and accessories) I don’t see how this location will be able to keep to stay open for more than a year or two.

 

Maybe I’m wrong but thousands of clubs over priced is dead inventory.

While I can’t speak to their pricing, this is exactly the conundrum retail, especially specialty retail like golf is facing. Everyone wants the most amazing price, but when it comes time for service we scoff at paying a little more for it. Retailers are now forced to provide bottom barrel prices at minimal margins because of Amazon, and can’t even win when they provide better service than the others.

 

OP wanted something specific and this company went the extra mile for him. Don’t worry AP2, eventually you won’t even have to be bothered with this because service won’t exist anymore.

I’ll gladly pay full retail at a brick and mortar for good service, if I’m buying new. But AP2 is right, their used prices are a joke.

Any chance you could help break down the final cost of the fitting? What extra fees/services did they charge you for? I understand that the fitting itself is complimentary with purchase but did they charge additional for clubmaking?

Great service can still be had in many ways WITHOUT high prices on USED clubs.

 

If I recall correctly, when the PGATSS opened in NJ, they offered 25% off on their used club prices for at least the first 6 months that the store was open. First you have to gain the customers before you can provide them with great service. I see no reason to back to 2nd Swing which is about 20 minutes further from me than the PGATSS is. I have purchased a bunch of used clubs from 3balls. Their service is adequate and their pricing is way better than 2nd Swing.

Their pricing sucks! It won’t be offset by any level of service. That same service can be duplicated elsewhere.

They have an eBay store and from every interaction I've had with them I'm pretty sure they use the Best Offer feature as a joke

I have had good experience with them. Sell stuff that I don't wanna hastle with shipping. Their prices are hit and miss at Scottsdale and online.

 

I felt I came out with a deal on my iblades which were pretty new for $500 and change. The G400 driver was on par with ebay prices outside of winning an auction. The buy it now was $20 more on ebay vs their website.

 

So just shop around do your research and take the deals where you can. At least that is my experience with most purchases.
