I am going to Houston’s Shell Open with my wife, any suggestions before we go?

My wife and I are going to the Shell open this year on Saturday. I have never been and we are planning on walking around the course for most of the time, but we might post up at a hole. Any suggestions for us from anyone who has been? Is there any particular hole better than another to stay by? Any suggestions would help!

I've been twice and its pretty fun. Here are some thoughts:

 

1) Go early and watch the players at the range. The putting green is next to the range and a little closer for viewing.

2) Holes 2 and 10 provide the most incredible viewing I have ever seen. You can stand right behind the tee box (5 feet away on #2) on each hole and watch the players tee off. Its incredible.

3) Bring sunscreen and some sort of folding/carry chairs to sit in. You can thank me later.

4) Its almost impossible to walk the whole course. Its just too big but if you're up for it give it a try.

Do they allow folding chairs still? I went to the Valero and the WGC match play in 2017 and both events told me no-go on chairs. WGC did not even allow my binoculars and backpack, I had to stow them in a locker for $10.

I was able to bring one in, it was a foldable one which carried in a little bag over the shoulder.

no need to bring sunscreen...MD Anderson provides free sunsncreen at numerous places around the course.

 

I agree #2 tee box is good as wells as the par 3 next to it. #8??? it slips my mind.....If you really want to get close and get away from the crowds walk back towards #12,13,14 etc.....It seems many people stay around #1,2,16,17,18 because the are the closest to the entrance.....Walk to the back and enjoy the course. Very Fun times.

What ever the short par 4 is maybe 12 ??? Is a cool hole to sit behind just to see strategy about 1/4 of them try and drive the green.

thinking of heading out and play it this weekend before they jack the prices up. anyone been out there recently? curious if the condition is tournament level yet?

Greens are slow until tournament. Rye has grown in and they're building bleachers. Very wet!
