I'm out.  Had a random yesterday which I passed (had no reason to fear not passing).

If eye doc wants to write me a script for something along those lines I will take it to my employer ahead of time and have that discussion with them.

I also have typical former athlete ailments; knees, foot, low back pain.  Obviously would like to not have those issues but at the same time I am about addressing the cause of the pain and not just masking the pain allowing the cause of it to get worse and worse.

Losing about 25 more pounds would probably be the best thing for me honestly.

Yes, multiply your goal weight x 12

Thats how many calories you should eat.

Divide that number into 3 meals and a snack. Each meal can be a different amount of calories.

Get a small food scale like this

https://www.amazon.com/Greater-Goods-Gray-Food-Scale/dp/B01JTDG084/ref=mp_s_a_1_12_sspa?keywords=food+scale&qid=1667500473&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI0LjUxIiwicXNhIjoiNC41OCIsInFzcCI6IjQuNDcifQ%3D%3D&sr=8-12-spons&psc=1

You’ll need to count ALL your calories via the scale or the package. You’ll get good at it ; )

Start now and you should drop 25 pounds in a year easy without being too hungry.

I eat twice or maybe three times per day now.  If I eat breakfast it is a small bagel (one of those mini ones) with some onion chive cream cheese and a slice of prosciutto.  Lunch is a salad with no calorie dressing, no carby stuff in it.  Dinner is low/no carb.  Eat lots of broccoli, asparagus and brussel sprouts.

I drink black coffee and water.

I have lost 15 lbs since spring.  Need to lose some more.  Has made my knees feel much better.

Ur a better man than me bscn. I vowed to never go as far as weighing all my food unless my body was my main source of income! Haha

For me it’s common sense, smaller more frequent meals and thinking about macros in a broader sense. What’s my protein, what’s my good fat/carb. No scale, just knowing portion size and estimate calories. I call it ‘mindful eating’. But it depends on the individual. I’ve never been “fat” and if anything I’m a “hard gainer”. So if I go over it’s not detrimental. Someone that gains weight “just looking at a donut”, yeah gonna need to be more precise.

Yo, you’ve been on top of it you’re whole life so it’s second nature but…we know so many want to lose weight, they try to just “cut down” or “eat sensibly”

but they never lose anything because they don’t ever know how many calories they eat and if they’re in a deficit

It’s second nature to me now, I can just look at a potato and know how much it weighs and many calories 🤣. And my diets been structured for so long, I can hit a small surplus or deficit easily,

But if you’ve been carrying extra weight for some time, to get started

You gotta know your calorie count. And unless you’re eating something out of a package with the calories on it. You gotta weigh it!

After some time, you nail your maintenance down, you know your diet, and it’s easy.

So true and great points… I just have a hard time wrapping my head around what it’s like for average ppl.
